"Dandelion" Procreate Timelapse #1 - WIP

Hi everyone,

I didn't get as far as I was hoping with this new painting in August, but I did manage to do a mock-up of the painting in Procreate, which is the timelapse you can watch above.

This piece was initially meant as a bigger version of this sketch.

But as I kept working, I started really liking the feeling I got from the rays of sunshine streaming through the unraveling face, and also settled on the character holding a dandelion dissolving in the wind, which felt like enough detail.

I am thinking of maybe making this a small series, and exploring the concept in a few different ways in a few different paintings.
I pondered with the idea of putting the character under water, and having the strands floating in the current, and coral growing out of the head, so I might try that out in a future composition also, we'll see.

For now, I am excited by the light and dandelion composition.

Here's a fun fact I learned while doing research for the title ; did you know that dandelions are a symbol for emotional and physical healing?
I certainly didn't!
This is another instance of a piece of mine unveiling its meaning to me after I come up with the idea for it. I just love those moments, when I learn more about the elements I have decided to portray, and their symbolism falls into place with my process and state of mind.

Our minds have much to tell us that we sometimes can't hear right away...

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy this little video, and I look forward to being able to share more of the process for this piece with you.

Take care everyone,
M

That sounds like an interesting idea for a series. I love dandelions, for which I put 80% of the blame for on that scene from Disney's Beauty and the Beast where she's stroking the dande-clocks yearning for adventure in the great wide somewhere πŸ˜‚

This is so lovely and I love the light shining through😍 I had no idea that's what dandelions meant. And I definitely agree with you exploring this concept in other ways too, I really like the underwater idea you have for it and the sketch above with the leaves coming through.
