"Cinders" WIP

I am having somewhat of an existential crisis at the moment regarding what I want my art to look like, so I am using this piece and its challenges to explore directions and options...
This way of working is obviously quite time consuming, but I am already feeling the benefits of taking a bit more time to settle the details before jumping into the full painting, and I feel a bit more at peace with my process.

Here the rain is pouring down, and autumn feels upon us. I have a cup of tea by my side always, and have taken to listening to the "Welcome to Night Vale" podcast. I am thoroughly addicted and highly recommend it, especially on gloomy, rainy days...<3
