2022 Preseason Top 30 Yankees Prospects

2022 Preseason Top 30 Yankees Prospects

Comments

I was hoping for a “Ginger Betances” reference in the Ridings write-up…

Pete Vanzino

Incredible job as always, Mike. Thanks for keeping us informed. Also, I’m irrationally excited at the number of switch (and lefty) hitters. One or two would go a long way to fixing the lineup balance issues.

Dan G

Gonna write about him next week.

Michael Axisa

What happened to Anthony Siegler?

The Original Drew

Interesting. I checked my bookmarks, and sure enough TBC was there, but I can't remember the last time I accessed it. My bookmarks, like numbers in my phone, keep getting ported over, so wouldn't surprise me if it had been more than a decade. The site owners still seems to be updating the numbers, but not the design. I almost wonder if it's running on autopilot.

I'm planning to do something on prospects who fell off last year's list. Sikkema hasn't pitched in two years. That's really all there is to it.

Michael Axisa

No TJ Sinkema? Sonny gray trade so bad

Ryan Drury

Easily one of my favorite posts every year. I don't know how many others it would interest, but I wouldn't mind periodic 'where are they now' catch-ups on once heralded prospects that kind of fell off. I'm thinking of dudes that had some hype and had a couple down years like Osiel Rodriguez.

Chris

I can feel it already. Wesneski and Waldichuk are going to be my new Luis's--Gil and Medina. By that, I mean Yankee prospects that will make me pause when I hear their names, and I'll think, which one is which??? I'm going to contain my enthusiasm on Volpe until I see him perform above the A-ball levels. Supposedly AA is where the men are separated from the boys. I don't doubt the skill, but I've seen many a prospect a flop making that jump. As for The Martian, I think he's going to have a breakout 2022. Too much talent, and he's got a year (finally) under his belt in pro ball. Florial is going to have a good year in AAA.

this is always the best post of the year, thanks

Tauchamania BROTHER.

Tauchmanian

Brian Harvey

The Cube was great back in the day because it had college stats and a draft database. B-Ref added that stuff a few years ago though, so there's no reason to go to the Cube anymore.

Michael Axisa

Oh dammit. Fixing. Thanks.

Michael Axisa

Great Job. I love this list

Michael Mazzullo

Great stuff as always Mike! I laughed that #27 Elijah Dunham's DOB (on the prospect image) is listed as May 29th, 1981! Haha... he'd be a Roy Hobbs prospect.

The WallBreakers

Mike, you linked to a website called thebaseballcube.com in your first top 30 and to my surprise it is still active! It looks straight out of 2003. Wonder how that guy feels about baseball reference...
