Hey everybody,
Who says you have to spend a ton of money to enjoy fountains pens? As a fountain pen enthusiast, I appreciate the expensive fountain pens made by Montblanc, Pelican, Parker, and the rest, but, those pens can be cost prohibitive to so many people including myself. I'd love to have a Pelican M1000 or Parker Duofold Centennial, and of course, my dream-pen, the Montblanc 149, but the truth is that I get just as much enjoyment from using well-designed inexpensive pens such as Lamy Safaris, Pilot Metropolitans, Platinum Plaisir, and others.
Sure, the finest resins, and the nice spongy, solid gold nibs are to drool over for sure, and my mouth is dripping as much as anyone's, but let's face it; those pens are luxury items, and like other luxury item such as jewelry, yachts, Gulfstream jets, and designer brand clothing, are sold at very high markups. Granted, percentage-wise, the markup on a budget pen might be as much or more, but at a smidge over $20, my new Jinhao 100, which looks like a Parker Duofold Centennial, is easier to stomach than the $700-$1000 price tag of the Parker. And that is why I decided to buy the Jinhao.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprise and have been using it everyday now since making this video. I'll do a followup report on the pen in the future, but until then I hope that you enjoy watching as I use the 100 for the first time.
Thank you for your patronage. It is not taken for granted.
