NOTE: I don’t know if I’ve shared this song (Cold Outside - Youtube) with your guys, but by far it has been one of my biggest inspirations in writing the Wolfgirl’s Pet Witch story, as well as chapters like this one.
Like seriously, could there be a more perfect song? (Partially perfect because of ‘how it sounds’ not just the lyrics themselves.)
The reason why it matters for this chapter is because of Rosa and Natalie’s involvement (as being two who have an special alpha bond with Kai).
However, I should clarify that I imagine ‘Ariana’ (from Wolfgirl) as being the person who is singing this song to her two female lovers.

FEEDBACK: Okay, so I realize this chapter kind of drags out in the beginning, but I had a reason for that. However, overall the main purpose of this chapter is to set up the plot that is coming up in the next handful of chapters.
Also, this is definitely one of those chapter where I am 'hoping' I was able to really tug on your emotions. But, I'm not sure if this is going to be 'hit or miss.'
It is 'often' hard for me to tell, so let me know what you thought!
SIDE NOTE (COMBAT HEALER): It's kind of funny, because here we are 'finally' getting to the the 'desert' part of Kai's past and future, and at the same time, I've got 'desert' on the mind for Combat Healer's plot too (after all, there's an entire kingdom to explore across the desert).

2024-01-09 01:49:45 +0000 UTCHe is actually going to reapply the tattoo, but just to his hand. It's a 'process' to do each section that takes hours to complete just 'one section.' He will do his hand, and then normally he would add another section, and another, and another until his entire arm is covered. Basic idea is that, the more of his arm covered, the more powerful the destruction is. By just doing his hand, it at least lets him kill a small handful of enemies clustered together.

During the Jonathan transformation ark all his women were dyeing their hair believing it would become permanent, If Dante reapplied his tattoo to cast Absolute Disintegration before he transforms, his new body would consider it a part of him. Therefore when he uses the spell he’ll lose the arm, take some blood and his arm will regrow with the tattoo.

Kai when he's in chaos mode seems pretty normal and like most people (in fact i feel like i may have worked for him in the past), when Kai is his normal self he seems dangerously healthy and I for one could never trust someone so healthy :P

2023-11-07 05:59:57 +0000 UTCI'm always keeping in mind that the main character is only 18 years old, and that definitely influences how he reacts to situations, versus how I personally (as the author) would react to situations. I'm also always keeping in mind the perception of the other characters. Most women find it endearing when a guy shows his emotions. If Kai tried to be a hardass and keep it all in (to 'not cry' because 'that's not manly'), then his women wouldn't feel as close to him, because it would be like he didn't need their comfort. But he does need their comfort, and that makes all of them feel 'needed,' even though there is more than one of them. And I'm pretty much always keeping that idea in mind: how his reactions to things affect the women in his life (good or bad), even though we often don't see in the story the result of their reactions. (Although, it does affect the dialogue when they speak up about certain situations.) Like, if I wrote this story from someone else's perspective, such as Serenity or Gabriella's perspective, we'd probably get a ton of insight into how 'positively' the women react to certain things like him falling apart under the stress.

2023-11-06 15:35:38 +0000 UTCI think this is one of those situations where it's difficult to fully understand something by just reading it, compared to actually experiencing it. If you had a good friend, or even just someone you knew, like Claire, and you witnessed her crumbing to ashes right before your eyes, the stress of that alone, in real life would be enough to make you and anyone else fall apart (and that's just one thing). Most people would end up with sincere PTSD from that kind of experience. But yeah, it's really hard to get people to feel and fully understand that just from writing/reading it.

2023-11-06 14:25:13 +0000 UTCThe two chapters combined is 13,400 words, and in total, they took about 60 hours to write (35 and 25 hours). Think about that in terms of working 40 hours per week. The reason I am limited to my current release schedule is because it is already a strain on me to 'consistently' get in 20 to 30 hours of writing each week, and I absolutely could not maintain 60+ hours of writing each week. Some chapters are going to be great, some amazing, and some just okay. That's just how it is. The last few chapters have been amazing for some readers, but not every single one is going to be the best thing ever.

Just think that there just wasn’t enough going on. Yes emotionally there was for the characters but it really was a chapter about Kai in his own head, not much physically going on compared to the rest of the book so alone just don’t think it sits as strong as rest of the book.

I'm excited to discover his domain, that'll be really cool. Figuring out how to get out of his incubus will be pretty interesting and shouldn't we revisit the guy that owns the city?
