I'm team HOTD! I'm all about everything in this show. For some reason, I'm not interested in taking sides, or predicting what will happen. No protagonist and no main villain in this show, anything can and will happen. I'm not smart enough to foresee anything in this series, or GoT, lol! Although I will say that I noticed that Helaena seems like a bigger character in the future, compared to where she is now. She was knitting a bug a couple of episodes ago, and the bug was on Larys' cain, so.... I see something big happening with her, definitely!

So true Sam cameron! The writers though are already leaving out a few important people and changing events so maybe there is some hope that the written history gets changed in the tv show for the good as well as some of the bad. No matter what it will be epic.

I think they were trying to parallel Halena and Rhaenyra looking up and seeing stuff floating in the air as two mothers who both lost a child in that moment. But I have heard other commenters say that maybe Rhaenyra also has some type of sight like Halena, just in a smaller way. They are sisters after all. Maybe Rhaenyra has a little bit of what Halena has. She just lost her baby, Lucerys and Damon left her all that trauma may bring on some kind of vision. When she is playing with the babies there is a spoiler in that scene. That’s why other people think she had a vision like Halena has. Or maybe they just needed a long scene with Rhaenyra spending time with Aegon the younger and Viserys to show her as a good mother.

Loved watching this ep with you guys. Can't wait for the next! A couple of other TV series I think you guys would love and should check out are 'Foundation' (a futuristic sci-fi TV show on Apple TV), which is the most visually stunning TV show ever made, 'Vikings' (a historical drama about Vikings in the 10th/11th century), which is incredible. And finally, 'Rome' on HBO, which is, in my opinion, the best show ever made. It's only 2 seasons and is very reminiscent of GOT and so entertaining. Love you guys!

In episode 1 Helaena's chamber you can see her scribblings on the wall and papers. It shows a beheaded wolf (probably Robb at Red Wedding), a boar and funeral for a child. Also a naked woman standing in fire (probably Daenerys bringing back dragons or killing Dothraki khals). A stag with crown (probably Robert or Baratheons becoming king). She lives through nightmarish prophecies of death constantly. This is her life. And final realization when the nightmare becomes reality.

Maegor the Cruel killed by the Iron Throne. Jaehaerys Targaryen with his sister wife Queen Alysanne takes over the throne from Maegor's rule. Jaehaerys at Great Council of 101 AC declaring Viserys as the heir to the Throne (the scene from the beginning of season 1). Alicent in green dress opposite to Rhaenyra in black dress. Aegon and Rhaenyra on their thrones. And finally Vhagar killing Luke and Arrax.

In this show you won't find a character to strongly like. George R R Martin wrote this story in such a way that all are grey characters. No one is good or bad. All are complicated three dimensional characters with depth. Show is trying to make some characters likable than the others. But I don't think they can do much because it might deviate from the books much and you know right what happens when they deviate from the books a lot 😁

you say Otto is keeping his "legacy in tact" but that's not the case. He manipulated his way to having a line to the throne. His legacy is Hightower, not the Iron Throne. He pimped out his 14 year old daughter (i get it, that was the culture, but still...) so she could give the king a male heir. And knowing Visery's wishes that Rhaenyra inherit the throne, (he laughed at Aegon when Aegon said his father wanted him to be king), he killed people who opposed him and went against his own king's wishes. I don't see how he isn't a complete villain. What good did they ever show him doing?

Otto’s proposal regarding the death of Jaehaerys is smart no doubt but still horrible. I understand a child was just brutally murdered and there is cause for some sort of retribution. However Otto does not care who did it whether it be someone on the inside or rhaenyra to him it doesn’t matter cuz he is going to pin it on her. We as the viewers know who sent blood and cheese but Otto and the others as of yet do not. He is willing to come up with a whole smear campaign against rhaenyra instead of finding the actual person who is responsible who for all he knows could be in the very room with him. People talk about the Blacks but when Lucerys was murdered Rhaenrya did not rush to war as the Greens are choosing to do. Even when everyone was pleading with her to take action she refused and properly grieved her son. Once she came back she did not hold a funeral for her son proclaiming that Aegon had him killed and that he was a kinslayer and child murderer. She said only four words the whole episode “I want Aemond Targaryen”. The one and only person responsible for his death.

I’m so glad they finally mentioned Alicent and Viserys 3rd son Daeron. It’s been weird not hearing about him until now. Other people are saying Podrick from GOT was in one of these scenes as a servant but I haven’t had a chance to verify that. The brothers are Adam and Alyn of Hull. They are on Driftmark working on Corlys ships. Adam saw the dragon. You guys were asking about the tapestry in the intro. Max YouTube channel put out a video on it that explains it in great detail. They said as things happen on the show more parts will be added to the tapestry. Really enjoyed the reaction! Thank you for getting it out so quickly.

Ok so thing I wanna say is the show is team black propagand let’s start with Otto his motives are simple keep his legacy in tact he is this shows tywin he just dose what has to be done next alicent their are not many flaws in her character she loves her kids and dose her duty and since she doesn’t know about the prophecy, which is shoehorned into the series it’s not her fault that she wants aegon to be king next aemond again not a very flawed character he just didn’t have a dragon so when he got one I don’t blame he for having a bit of an attitude he Evan says in this episode that he did not mean to kill luke next aegon the show makes him seem like this horrible person he’s really not that that bad you can see in this episode he loves his kids he might have a temper wouldn’t you if you were him he was Even trying to be a good king

How about the symbolism of aegon destroying the kingdom his father built in the beginning with him beating up the model Valyria in his chambers. Shit is so well written. Daemon is called the rouge prince for a reason lol also I despise Christon Cole.

The show writing is just chefs kiss. They converted the “the best leader, is a reluctant leader” trope to “the reluctant mother, is the more caring mother”. I got you on the hero thing, but this book is a very dark part of the history. But dont worry “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is next and that is somewhat a heroic story
