The dynamic behind the Brotherhood of Steel, a Vault Dweller, and a Wastelander is very interesting and the Ghouls backstory is so interesting!

Up til now I hadn’t heard you meantion FO New Vegas, I think this show has that visual feel to it, plus the downright grittiness of the charecter s , so far nobody’s really good but then again nobody’s really bad, all rules and laws of society are up in smoke long ago, just like civilization , got imagine morals and ethics, itd be hard to maintain those ideologies for 200 yrs if mankind took itself to the brink of total global nuclear extinction 🤔, oh and I’m here for the late viewing, meaning like watching for the first time two months after the fact you did this reaction , I love these reactions btw!

2024-05-15 09:09:50 +0000 UTCalright, since you asked... first time watcher, never played the game. i think it is decent. a little corny/silly for my tastes, i like grittier things. the concept would be very cool in a serious, dark show... survivors of the vaults exploring the outside world after 200 years... but without the bottle caps, spunky robots, etc.

2024-05-08 07:58:28 +0000 UTCI was a first time viewer, never played the games although I did buy 3 of the GOTY Editions of the game (Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4) some months ago, I think a little after the first trailer for this came out. Only just cracked the shrink-wrap on 4 a week ago because I saw there was a next-gen free update and I wanted to see if 1. I could get a free upgrade from the PS4 version to PS5 (which I just got) and 2. if that one would install the next-gen update. Yes to both, if you're curious. I saw a tiny bit of gameplay of one of them, I think it was 3, from my friend close to 20 years ago and he was saying that he thought I'd really like it because he knows I like RPGs and he said you can do a lot in the game and play how you want. That there's a lot of freedom to craft and build your character. So, on first watch of this show, I liked the vibe of it and the sense of humor, but I came out of it frustrated, so I was a little conflicted. But, since I really liked about 90% of it, it didn't ruin the show for me. I asked a co-worker, who had played a few of the games, questions that were buggin' me about the "how" of things and he couldn't answer any of my questions which, interestingly enough, soothed those unanswered questions. He, as a game player, was loving the show and hadn't really thought about all the questions I came up with that frustrated me because, and I told him, I got this feeling about 3/4 of the way through the season, that this might be one of the rare cases that an adaptation of a video game is actually really liked by the players more than someone with no baggage coming in (when it's usually the other way) because there are so many nods to the games that it probably appeals more to the gameplayers because they have this sort of shorthand where they see something and know what it is, how it's used and maybe even where it came from while someone like me is waiting for explanations (that many don't come). After talking through all the unanswered questions (which some still frustrate me a little) and watching some game explainer vids, they were no longer eating at me and I could just enjoy the season as a whole and I've been looking at others reactions to it, which I wouldn't do if I didn't really enjoy it and want to see how others react to it. I'm a little like Mr. October in that I want to know how a lot of these things come to be and this first season, at least, isn't interested in telling that stuff. Even little things like, why bottle caps? Why did those start to be used as currency? What is the inherent value there? Ultimately, I had to look up my questions on the Interwebs and get enough info to be able to brush it off. If I know as much as everyone else and it's still not explained fully, then I'm OK with that. Hey, if I didn't really like it, I wouldn't be watching reactions, let alone full-length reactions to it.
