X-Men First Class (2011) Reaction!

This was the best "reboot" (if that's what you call it?) That we have experienced on the channel so far!

LOVING THIS ONE!

X-Men First Class (2011) Reaction!

Comments

I fell in love with McAvoy in the Chronicles of Narnia, in this movie I fell in love with Fassbender!

Lucile Byrd

This is one of my favorite X-men movies. Mcavoy and Fassbender did a great job! Not sure if you noticed that Alex Summers (Havok) has a familiar power, his power is the same as his little brother Scott Summers (Cyclops) power, except it is not localized to his eyes. After everything we see in all the movies of how horrible the humans are and Magneto being justifiably radicalized and extreme to fight for human rights and people still continue to act like the only bad guy is Magneto, and not the humans in power? Charles getting shot is Moira's fault, she shot at Magneto, and he was just defending himself when one of the deflected bullets accidentally hit Charles. Also, Charles has always been judgy and naive, favoring humanity over the very mutants he is responsible for, but in this movie it is even more obvious with his treatment of Raven, which is why she chose to side with the mutant who taught her to accept herself and is fighting for mutants over the humans who continue to threaten and attack them because they are different! I am sorry, maybe it is because of current events or our own US & human history, but I fail to see how someone who watches their own people be persecuted and treated like less than human 2nd class citizens with no rights yet continues to fight to protect those who oppress his own kind is "morally superior" to the one who fights for his own people. Just a reminder that those in power will label anyone who fights against their injustice and rule will always vilify that person/group and label, that doesn't make it true!

Lucile Byrd

Striker in this film is the dad not William from the wolverine film....he's still very young

Rashad Walker

Logan

JSM -Tac

“I thought I was alone.” -Erik “You’re not alone. Erik, you’re not alone.”-Charles Charles was hooked from the moment he jumped off that boat, and he would spend the next 50-60 years chasing that high 😜

CheshireKat528

No keep us straight! The thing about recording is sometimes I say things that I don’t necessarily mean that much and I forget that you guys only see that and think that I mean it more than I do and after I am done making the video I can’t really go back and explain my lack of a well communicated thought. But we love having you here and please never feel like you can’t be honest. ☺️

Mr. October

the timeline issues will be addressed by the way so dont worry. The worst part of this movie was how they killed Darwin lol. He is an omega level mutant. Thats up there with Jean. He shouldn't have died, but adapted his way out in another way. For example, he fought the Hulk, and the Hulk power is so strong, his powers just turned him into a teleporter and sent his ass three states away lmao

james moore

Magneto isnt really a villain, he's more Malcom X and Charles is more Dr. King

james moore

Man I am DYING for y'all to get to Days of Future Past!! First Class is great, but the next one is just in a whole other level!! And I agree with other commenters that after that you're good to jump into Wandavision, which is so so exciting!!

Emili

Have you guys reacted to Spiderman no way home yet?

Tayshawn Williams

Yeah it does have a diff vibe for sure. I definitely didn't mean your observation was trash. I was mostly projecting 😅. Thanks for understanding! 😊

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Hey Charissa! So I read what you wrote and I don’t think you’re ranting. I think when I said they did not feel like the X-Men movies you took it as someone who has no knowledge of the long history of comics saying what a comic movie should or shouldn’t feel like! I can understand how that would’ve been frustrating but I don’t think I meant it that way I think I was simply saying that the first three or four movies had a very I guess 2000s vibe. It mainly just got us used to characters that were not there and X5 as the same actors and I was just stating it just felt like a different speed than the other ones not a bad thing . Definitely wasn’t trying to make any comparisons about the comic books or how they should feel cause I wouldn’t know! It’s obvious you just care a lot about the comics and the characters and I think that’s awesome

Mr. October

Like Mrs. October, I love that Magneto kills Shaw with the coin he used to torture him with by killing his mom, but I really loved that he moved the coin so slowly, it wouldn't trigger his kinetic energy absorption. So, it wasn't in slow motion, he slowly moved the coin through his head/brain. When we saw this in the theater, me and my friend were just like, "Daaaaaamn!"

Thadman

This one, Days of future past and Apocalypse are top tier

Milf and Cookies

I definitely think of them as spins offs. And I love him, but never really felt like centering Wolverine so prominently was justified by anything other than Hugh Jackmans performance. I have a slight problem with Deadpool, when no one else seems to, and we saw how the others turned out lol.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Yeah I hate being that commenter and I think they avoid the ranty comments in case of spoilers, but I can never help it. There are many generations and waves of fans is also the problem. There will also be details missed because of countless issues, storylines, characters, iterations, and adaptations. There is no way to try and please everyone in this medium. I consider myself "diehard" because of how nostalgic and ranty I become, but I definitely don't know (and probably can't be) as much as someone whose been around to see it all from the jump. I like these mostly for the character representations that I feel it conveys pretty well, but of course nowhere near as in depth as there is to cover. It seems like there's more of a "show, don't tell", except the most cringe scene of them all imo when Mystique is "naming" everyone. I can't believe someone wrote that and called it good. There's a lot to be desired but structure wise, film wise, it holds, which is more than I can say for much else besides Wolverine.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

So nice to share Sunday dinner with the Octobers. Glad you served up a real treat.

Jim Schmitz

Here, here, Peter!

Jim Schmitz

Charissa, after thinking about my post I wanted to ask you, do you think the Wolverine and Deadpool movies are Xmen movies or spinoffs? Personally, I consider them spinoffs with some Xmen characters making cameo appearances. Same with Venom and Morbius, but no Spiderman cameo, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of those movies...(sigh.....but that's Fox and Sony for ya)....

DarrellWaller

I mostly agree with what you said, Charissa. I'm a die hard who has been around since the 70's so I get what you are saying but this is specifically why I don't like this movie that much because they deviated from the source material so much. However, I get how newbies and the general audience who don't know the source material will love this film. So , you gave a well said post to the Octobers in filling them in. I try to do the same, but tend to go on a rant and seem like "THAT GUY" when I post a comment. LOL.

DarrellWaller

Yes I know. But I didnt want to lead them to that conclusion seeing as Mystique and Azazel are on the same team now. So they may go into the movies thinking oh Mystiwue and this guy hooked up.

Jonny

Totally agree. with the exception of "Logan", the other Xmen movies are straight to DVD pieces of shit. I think the Octobers want to watch all of them to get their own views on them and I will watch them just to get their commentaries after they watch the movies (aka trainwrecks )

DarrellWaller

This is my favorite X-Men movie

Miguel Lugo

Ok, trying not to comment when this hits YouTube because I will take a lot of shit over there, buttttttttt...... I gotta be THAT guy that complains about this movie, ok? I realize all the movies take liberties with the comics,(even Marvel) but this just took it way too far in my opinion., First off, Mystique was a villian who came along many years after the original Xmen formed. The original X-mn never even met her!! The flirting with Beast, but he didn't know her in X3? (I think I already went over the originals: Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel (the guy from X3, not this chick in this movie), Iceman was the last to join Charles. The characters used in this movie were some of the more recent (last 10/15 years) and they put them in "first class"??? Seriously? Banshee in the comics was an early villian/allie of the Xmen and was a founding member of the NEW Xmen which featured Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus (you will see more of Colossus in Deadpool). Alex (aka Havok ) is Scott's brother!! Scott joined first, not Alex! Emma Frost came yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars later and not this early. I stopped reading comics around 1999 so I don't know who the hell "Darwin" is/was. With that being said, I think this was an okay movie (I know a lot of people loved it) but as a comic purist, I think this is where the Fox-men started to go off the rails and I want to see Marvel take a shot at doing the TRUE Xmen right in a few years. THis is where I left the Fox-men train and didn't pay to see any more of their movies but I did watch Days of Future Past and it is very good, (not comic accurate, but it's all right, it's still kick ass). You will now understand some of tthe inside jokes in Deadpool after seeing this. LOL. (can't wait for you to see the REAL Deadpool). I realize the general public that never read the source material love this movie but to me, it was a bit of a letdown from straying so much from the source material. Beast BUILT cerebro??? Excuse me, but didn't Charles say Eric helped him build it in X 1 ???? Didn't Fox have any continuity editors on the staff at that time ?? Okay, I rambled enough, love you guys and just waiting for you to get back to the MCU soon. Much love, Darrell

DarrellWaller

I strongly recommend that you move back to the current MCU after Days of Future Past, the two Wolverine and the other attempt at a reboot were not all that good and have no impact on the current MCU. I'd go back and do them at a later date, but after DOFP, you should jump into Wandavision. And, FWIW, WV is 9 half hour eps, I would suggest doing it 3 parts at a time, it will be more satisfying for you two that way. Just saying...

Peter K

This is the movie I fell in love with McAvoy. One of my favorite actors. And he just gets better with every movie of his I see. Can't wait for the next reaction! Have a great Sunday!

Erin Renee

Days of Futures Past is not only one of the best films of the entire X-Men franchise, but a lot of people put it on their short lists of best superhero movies in general. It is very epic and takes itself a bit more seriously compared to First Class. Think X2 compared to the first X-Men. And yes, might as well watch the Rogue Cut, it’s the superior version.

Kiera Walker

Another fun fact: the older Raven in Magento’s bed is played by Rebecca Romijn - the original Mystique actress.

Rey

Nightcrawler is the child of Azazel and Mystique in the comics.

Kiera Walker

Ok so I gotta be totally honest and say that some of the stuff y'all say blows my mind. I definitely love seeing these from the perspective of people who have zero clue in, but it physically hurts when you say stuff like "it didn't feel like an xmen movie". I get what you mean, but I said something on the last one about the fandom whose been around since the 60s basically feeling like every movie is an X-Men movie because it has the X-Men in it. When Emma introduces herself we know who that is, you guys don't. So just remember again, that these movies are made not genuinely as elaborate introductions to "newbies", but screen adaptations of comic books series' that are 60 years old. They're going to cater to fans knowledge and give the rest as much as they can without compromising on the adaptation. I don't know if that makes sense, but it's something to remember. These movies aren't necessarily meant to make lay viewers as hype as it does for diehard fans. This is probably the hyper nerd in me speaking but it's something to remember. You just can't get as hype about seeing Havok if you have never heard of him in your life. It's just how it is. X-Men First Class and Days of Future Past are my favs of the entire run because there is so much attention to detail of the source material, that again you can't really care about unless you're already familiar. But great reaction and it's great you're consuming and putting out this content! Had nacho flavored chips this time! 😁🤤

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Both versions are pretty much the same the rogue cut just has more scenes

Gio Bellisario

Really hope you guys can go through rogue cut of days of future past or you guys will probably be sad cuz they didn’t use her at all in the theatrical release

Gio Bellisario

Great Film! Such a great way to reboot the franchise after a, somwhat dissapointing, and critically "less succesful" third X-Men installment. Acting here is top notch!

McC

1000% will watch the rogue cut

Mr. October

Please watch the rogue cut. It got more scenic scenic scenes and it's more interesting

asia roberson

yes noticed that bc i just looked up x6 title we will watch wolverine next

Mr. October

Ok just to clarify a few things in an otherwise great reaction. That wasn't William Stryker. That was the father of William. Remember this was the past long before William entered the picture. Two, Emma Frost is actually an extremely strong mutant as well. While her telepathy is not on the level of Charles, she is at least on the level of Jean Grey without the Phoenix so that shows how strong she is. Also Havok's name is Alex Summers. Cyclops name is Scott Summers...I will say no more. Lol put two and two together. Also Nightcrawler and Azazel really do have similar powers. Same tail and weird markings except Azazel is red and Nightcrawler is blue. Are they related? 😌

Jonny

This movie is underrated. I saw it for the first time about two years ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender did a great job portraying the younger versions of Charles and Erik. They did their best to portray two characters that Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen had already established. I’m letting you know ahead of time: Days of Future Past has an extended edition. You’d have to rent that version since it’s not on Disney Plus, but you’ll benefit from getting more out of the story. In the meantime, if you wanna see more of Matthew Vaughn’s work… I know people are gonna say you should watch the Kick-Ass movies. There are only two right now, but I recently found out that there are three more entries in the works. What many seem to forget to recommend though is Kingsman: The Secret Service. It’s a spy film unlike any other.

Aldo Gonzales

Yea but on YouTube they posted their lineup and they have Days Future Past up next, the rogue cut btw so no worries on that

TC24

Next movie is wolverine. But just remember when you finally watch Days of future pass please watch Days of future pass the rogue cut because you get more scenes and it more interesting.

asia roberson

Wolverine is the next movie anyway after first class

asia roberson

I just saw your community post on YouTube and just wanted to point out that you have to watch The Wolverine(2013) before Days Future Past, like yall said the timeline is iffy so the order is confusing but The Wolverine leads right into Days of Future Past. If that’s just a YouTube only lineup then yall can just ignore this comment…

TC24

Love these ones!

Ryan Reynolds

One of my favourites from the xmen universe alongside days of future past and Logan
