Captain Marvel Reaction

Ya'll this one was necessary! We also thought it was a good origin story, but it wasn't our favorite! That doesn't mean it was not good it's just in the MCU they are all so good and we wouldn't say it was in our Top 5.

We loved getting to see Phil again and also get to know Nick Fury a little better.

How cool was GOOSE?

Thanks for coming along on the journey with us :)

We love you!

Captain Marvel Reaction

Comments

you awesome! thanks for being with us throughout this whole thing!

Mr. October

Still astounds me this move made over $1B.

Ben Felton

Been a while since I saw that &only saw it once. Might be time to watch it again. I di like it also.

Thadman

I just realized it kinda reminds me of Aeon Flux.

Well said. I always enjoyed this movie. It falls somewhere in my top ten MCU movies. I am the type of person that does enjoy a disjointed main character point of view narrative. It is tricky to get perfect, but this movie isn’t terrible at it. Plus, Brie and Sam, the whole cast has good chemistry. I always saw Carol shooting the core the same as Steve jumping on a grenade. She had no expectations of survival from the explosion she knew would happen with her in range. Sometimes you get incinerated, sometimes you get superpowers,🎲🎲

I can’t express how much I enjoyed this reaction. I especially loved when you compared Captain Marvel to Captain America, but with more personality! The amount of criticism Brie Larson got for having no personality as Captain Marvel in this movie is ridiculous. At first Mr. O did say it seemed like she didn’t have a personality, but then realized she hadn’t really had a chance to express much of one. She was constantly being told to control her emotions and that humor was a distraction. Half of a human being’s personality is humor and emotion. The poor woman is a slightly less abused, space version of Bucky. Mrs. October has a keen eye for detail and it will serve her well in the future… Mr. October’s scientific lens will serve him well in the future… Thank you both for another great rewatch experience…so many more to come in the Endgame…and after?

I like this more on rewatches, but I did like it in the theater. I'm in the middle of your reaction now, but when I came out of the theater, I said that I liked it and saw that they wanted to do a different type of origin story in the way they told it and I appreciated that they tried something new, but I feel that the way they did it, with her figuring out who she is at the same time the audience does made it hard for a lot of people to connect with her. It starts with false memories of a rigid militaristic race, so not very warm and inviting. Mind you, this sort of thing didn't bother me, but most people like to connect to a character emotionally and this movie was more than halfway through when you get to her really learning who she is. So, Marvel was trying something new in the storytelling with it being disjointed and a bit of a mystery and it did not hit with a lot of people. Plus, there was all that nonsense before it came out criticizing it because it was a super-powerful female lead and a lot of brain-deficient goofballs throwing around the idiotic "SJW" term 'cause of insecurity, I guess. But, like I said, I liked it when it came out. Definitely not my fav, but I did/do still like it better than Thor: The Dark World. It's fun and once you see the whole story and understand the character better, rewatching is more fun. Oh, and Carol wasn't being impulsive when she shot the engine core and blew it up. Mar-Vell said she was going to destroy the core so the people chasing them couldn't get ahold of it and that's when Yonn-Rogg (sp?) shot her. So, Carol was just doing was Mar-Vell tried to do as a last act.

Thadman

I second that. Their honesty and open mindedness is very refreshing.

Endgame will be Stan Lee’s last cameo, though he filmed it before his Captain Marvel cameo.

Andrew Karr

I will say that I appreciate you giving real criticism and not calling it “woke”

Lizzie

They're all characters going back to the 60s and 70s, and even farther back for Captain America. It's always odd for me when I hear someone say they've never heard of a particular comic book character who has been around for multiple decades.

MotoDork

She's more powerful than Wanda. Captain Marvel is the most powerful superhero in the Marvel Universe.

MotoDork

This is near the bottom for me too but it's still fun. You get introduced to the strongest Avenger and Fury gets much needed screen time. Not a spoiler but some of these characters, and actors/actresses, show up again in later projects so the movie is important. If you're not a comic reader you def was hating at the end saying you never heard of her lol. Everyone you've encountered so far is a character in Marvel Comics.

JM

Endgame beat avatar with $2.8 billion then James Cameron took that title back (mainly cause of China) and now avatar is at $2.9 billion. You all get endgame and the 3rd Spider-Man no way home sits at #7 all time which you all will hopefully get to down the road.

Shark23

I enjoyed this film and your reaction. The film itself made over a billion dollars, mainly because it was necassary to the MCU story. On its own, it isn't a top tier film. Why is Captain Marvel important? She is far more powerful than the heroes we've met so far (except Wanda). In Fury's dying moments, he called for Carol Danvers. Who wouldn't?

Mark Walston

really? avatar forreal?

Mr. October

Thinking about it, that 'Tesseract" has been quite a busy little cube in the MCU.

Jim Schmitz

Fair points were expressed throughout the film. I think Mrs. was right that they had to give us this before "Endgame" to introduce the character. I do see Maria's point. She committed to the military, so she had a duty to help, despite being a mom, like so many who serve. I sort the 'super' characters into basically 3 categories: ones with innate powers (either born with or acquired); ones enhanced by tech and/or training; and ones with a combo. Now I await your pleasure for the next posting...

Jim Schmitz

You are in the endgame now! The highest grossing movie of all time until avatar did a re-release.

Shark23

It's almost time for yall to start the MCU shows!

RegTravels

I really don't remember much about this so I'm gonna watch it with ya. I can't wait for yall to watch endgame tho

JJ Carlisle

So we've reached the point I (and many others) have awaited. Now the question is: how long can you wait to watch "Endgame"?

Jim Schmitz

Alright. Endgame is next. Please react to the end credits for endgame. Just let it play. You won't regret it. It's truly awesome.

Moua Yang

Motherflerken made me crack up. Maybe that’s what Nick meant to say when he vanished.

Aldo Gonzales

Trust me, you’re not the only ones who thought that lol. Somewhere in the middle for me, maybe middle bottom in the ranking. I’ll fire it up tonite again anyway after dinner!
