Some trivia: Her name is Dela! At first I had no plans of ever giving her either a name or a face, because I figured she wouldn't be relevant enough to the story for that. However, as I was writing the script for this scene... suddenly not making her an actual person felt bad and wrong, Dela might not have been an active part of the story we've been following for over four years, but she played a big role in Kai's life back then that we've only gotten glimpses of.
Revealing her face felt like the right thing to do. As a proper sign of Kai literally facing his past and his mistakes. And because she deserves it ; o;) It didn't feel right to end this story with her as nothing more than a faceless NPC 🥺
Fun fact: Her name is inspired by drag queen BenDeLaCreme LOL I was super into Drag Race when I wrote the chapter and Bendela with her sweet soul was one of my faves.

This is such a huge moment for Kai. And for Jas as well, trusting his partner. Love the detail of the ‘Fragile’ label clearly visible on the box Kai’s holding in the flashbacks.

Generally what makes you anxious is having to see their gaze on you, whether they're upset with you or not. The eyes are the window to the soul after all, and you did an amazing job portraying how Dela felt the moment she saw Kai on her doorstep <3 I hope they can get closure and stay good friends <3
