Making videos is hard
Added 2021-02-10 00:04:47 +0000 UTCI currently have two videos in flight waiting for footage before I can finish producing them. The script & voice-over are done but I just can't seem to put together footage for them.
One video in particular is about the Mate desktop. More specifically, a snippet of the history behind it.
So basically, rather than diving into all of the features Mate has, I want to talk about the history behind the DE and what makes it tick.
But... what kind footage do I pair that with? I tried some basic "using the desktop" clips from various distros but it's super lame. And I get people will listen/watch it anyway but I want to have a higher standard than that.
The problem is I don't know wth to even do with it. I can splice in clips or images of web pages and other Mate related stuff but that only goes so far before that becomes stale. I dunno, I guess this could work.
I guess the other alternative is to appear in the video is a narrator of sorts. I don't have the Egee suit yet so it would have to be a "neck-down" style of video like the other ones I've made and I'm personally not a huge fan of that.
On Twitter and in live streams I've talked about not making videos unless they are fun and these types of videos could be fun to make! I just don't know how to make them yet.
If you guys have idea's for video clips or footage for a "Linux history" type of video, I'd love to hear it!
