An important conversation.
I'd like to say a few things about how J & J are handling this topic ; o;) Because I think some readers might expect... more support?? from Jacob for his brother? In the form of telling their mum off? Which is definitely something that's happened before, but going off on a parent doesn't always solve the problem, might even make it harder in the future, especially when you can't or aren't willing to risk having to cut them out completely.
So sometimes.... just accepting the fact that you can't get through with certain topics might be the best way to deal with things. Jasper and Jacob have each other's backs and they both know that, but after 30+ years they're tired of trying to fight, it's not worth putting energy into that anymore so the boys mostly just try to get each other out of those dicey moments and reaffirm each other that despite what they're being criticised for (which their mum mostly even means well!! but she's a very hardened person with very little emotional intelligence? ̶p̶o̶s̶s̶i̶b̶l̶y̶ ̶a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶s̶l̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶n̶a̶r̶c̶i̶s̶s̶i̶s̶t̶i̶c̶ ̶t̶e̶n̶d̶e̶n̶c̶i̶e̶s̶ ), at the end of the day they can just leave and go back to their own independent lives. (except little Eli of course)
I'm hoping this comes across through this scene itself but in case I failed... I wanted to type it out like this a bit more clearly. I thought a lot about this family and I really love their dynamics, in a way I'm a bit sad I have to cut their relationship so short ; _;
We will hear a bit from Eli's perspective in the next episode~! 💜
