Fatigue and other assorted excuses
Added 2020-08-17 18:01:48 +0000 UTCIRL work has me so tired. π©
I have big & fun videos planned but I've had to put some of them off two weeks in a row now.
I've had a Gnome vs MATE video planned for almost a month but those comparison videos are a lot of effort and I really don't want to half-ass it.
I've committed to doing just 1 video a week but I almost couldn't even do that last week because of my workload.
I'm not even juggling that many balls at work - it's that all the tools and technologies are weird and I've never used them. Like, almost any of them.
- Saltstack - Never used it
- Sensu Go - Never used it
- Prometheus - Never used it
- Python - Never used it professionally/in production
- ELK Stack - Kind of used it, never managed it
- Jenkins - Have used it, never managed it
- Gitlab - Have used it, never managed it
On top of those tools, there are these tools I have used:
- Terraform
- Packer
- AWS
- Slack I guess?
This makes for the most technically challenging place I've ever worked. π
It's a really great place to work and everything but I'm still ramping up on everything I need to learn and know so I've just been really tired.
Hopefully, I'll be back to 100% by the end of August because I have a bunch of really fun things planned!

Take all the time you need to get yourself comfortable at work. I really enjoy your content, but it can all wait and I am sure that your viewers would put your well-being first. The important thing is to focus on your own stability and not try to do too much. Take care and look after yourself.
2020-08-17 19:47:25 +0000 UTCI totally understand the being worn out at work thing. I just tried switching to Pomodoro timer today to try and help with the feeling burnt out thing. So far day one with it, I do feel a little less worn out at the end of my work day. That said though, I totally understand that feeling. I feel so worn out after work usually and I just donβt have the energy to put together anything personal and just want to be lazy the rest of the day. Just hang in there, and try and find a way to pace yourself. That is key to burnout, is to make sure to find a rhythm that works for you.
