tl;dr Vultr offers faster servers and closer data centers for about the same cost
We've been testing different VPS providers for a couple of months now and this is where we've landed. We performed a fair amount of testing that confirms the increases we see using Vultr.
This isn't a slight toward Linode; I only started working with them after they reached out to me 2 or so years ago. Linode is still a great VPS provider - but Vultr offers more of what we need with super quick servers with lower latency.

Just be careful with Vultr, as a former customer who used them for a long time... they had some really weird security issues... Where a few times my console showed sever other people's servers and issue with their billing console a few times showing some odd issues... It has been a while since I used them again, just say this to proceed with caution!
