I've been doing the consulting gig for about a month and it's been interesting to say the least.
Their business model is based around Maas, Juju, and Snapcraft - all Canonical technologies. The idea is that they will produce Snaps and Juju charms and then offer professional support for enterprises that want to use or extend them.
This is exactly the business model Canonical enables with the Snapstore!
Working on these Snaps has provided me the opportunity to contribute to the Snapcraft project itself - What a strange turn of events!
I chatted with zyga today on IRC about a feature request for Snapcraft and I need to start a conversation, get buy-in from the Snapcraft team, and work with them or just write the code and submit a PR!
Most of the relevant bits of Snapcraft are written in Python so it's not a huge learning curve. But as a personal & professional opportunity to make a difference in the Open Source community,
this is huge!
I am planning to do a video or two about the Snapcraft stuff I've been working on in the past month at some point soon(ish). I actually might live stream it instead of doing a traditional "coding video". We will see!
