March 6th (which is tomorrow for me) is Misha's birthday and if any one of my OCs deserves a proper birthday drawing it's him ; -;)💕
So happy early birthday Mish~ 💕💕💕
I've been working on this story (working title is still "Two more minutes", I still haven't been able to decide on a proper title orz) a lot over the last few weeks, I'm not sure if I mentioned it in a previous post but I spent some time writing down important parts of the plot, planning locations and the order of events and also reworked tiny, tinyyy parts of the main character's designs.
I've also recently started getting into 3D modelling with Blender, because this story will require a lot of very specific assets, items, backgrounds....... vehicles (cries xD) and while using pre-made 3D models is great and saves a lot of time, Two more minutes is very important to me and I'm going for a very special feel and atmosphere, so I want everything in there to be as unique as possible.
Working on a webcomic more often than not implies that I have to produce pages as fast as possible, leave small intervals between a lot of content if possible, because that's what "the pros" do and what a large part of the audience expects from everyone. As an independent artist I don't reeeaaallly have to fall into that mindset, but sometimes the pressure still feels like it's there and of course using Clip Studio's assets is a great help to get content out faster and still have it look decent. In general I don't really subscribe to the idea that quanitity is more important than quality, and my workload is definitely not as heavy as that of some contracted webcomic artists, because I know my limits and what I can do as one person and what's too much etc but sometimes it's difficult to avoid the loud voices in the industry and from what I've seen that's pretty much the same for almost all creators 👀💦 Everyone feels like they're doing too little and not meeting "standards", whatevertheheck that means, you know XD It's difficult to explain if I don't wanna go on a whole ass rant, but what I wanna say is basically that pre-made assets are great and save time and hand power but for Two more minutes my goal is to take time and the amount of output into as little consideration as I possibly can and instead really do everything myself and from scratch, because of personal investment in that world and also because I'm really interested in the whole craft of everything and learning things and experimenting a lot. And learning a new program is my first step here :')
Surprisingly, Blender is a ton of fun to work with!! I've only been following tutorials to learn the basic functions so far, but once I'm ready to tackle simple things myself I'd love to share them with you if you're interested! (I dumped some WIPs on my random twitter for now lol)Two more minutes will have quite the pre-production process and I think maybe it'd be nice to take you all along for the ride if you'd like :'))
My main focus is still of course #MUTED, we're still only like halfway through with Jas and Kai, but sometimes it's nice to take my brain out of their world and put it into a different place to work on other things. It helps to keep things interesting for myself and also spot mistakes more easily if I had an opportunity to step away from one project for a little bit and later return with fresh eyes and brain power :3
As an important addendum to the paragraph earlier: I'm in a very lucky position to have you all here supporting me, the current financial stability definitely eases a lot of worries and lets me go through the days in a calm manner, thinking clearly, finding enough time for work, chores, doggo and also personal stuff and while I do still tornado a lot because that's just who I am now I guess xD I don't really feel like I have to go over any personal limits just to keep myself afloat and that's alllll thanks to you!! You enable me to not feel like I have to rush through my comics and can instead continue to put a lot of care into them, so that I can attempt to tell #MUTED as well as my skill level allows ; -;!! I feel like I don't say it enough, so THANK YOU, I hope you all know how much of a difference you're making with every pledge, no matter the amount or duration of your stay! 💙💙💙
