first day gone wrong (kinda) lol

i desperately wanted to try to use actual ink and drawing pen for at least one day of inktober, but it felt SO WEIRD. my lines are super shaky like this and i lost my patience really quickly. i hated the result and started a new one to make something better but with watercolours instead:

but halfway through i realised that this is taking too long so i ditched the second attempt XD

i was going to get some different values in the inked image with copic markers but turns out most of my grey ones are EMPTY so that's not working. i will probably give ink and pen another go during the next few days, maybe with a simpler motif, i want to master those tools as well. |_・)

my inspiration for today was "once upon a time", which i've been rewatching lately! i recently reached season 5 and i hadn't seen any of the later episodes of that season yet, and i got very excited when the topic of the underworld started coming up! even charon's name was dropped ; _;) and they went to the underworld by boat like any good soul should.

i really loved the image, so i wanted to try and recreate it in a drawing:

unfortunately i'm not very good at drawing backgrounds freehand, especially traditionally q _q) i should've chosen something easier with a less difficult mood to recreate!! but i'm always over ambitious and then disappointed when i can't magically conjur skills i don't actually have ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡

but i tried, and i will try again at some point! but i should take some time to learn first.

(also that tiny, lonely duck in the screenshot made me laugh real hard for some reason. charon, is that your pet??)
