this is a little late, because i spontaneously left the house for a bit last night and thus didn't draw as much as i'd planned 👀 but i'm back on track and tomorrow's piece is already good to go as well and scheduled for 1am!

since the whole underwater thing will be topic in the upcoming pages, i wanted to draw kai like this for inktober, too. it seemed like a "fun" motif. i wanted to decorate him with some plants or flowers so i goodled "flowers that grow underwater" and ended up with this one:

they're called pincushion protea and i think they look really beautiful?? kinda?? when i googled for plants i was terrified to actually click on the images tab because i'm very, very afraid of a lot of things that are going on in the deep sea and i fully expected to see some GROSS stuff ahaha but turns out it wasn't that bad!! flowers are beautiful no matter what.

which i actually like more than the finished result, but that's always a problem for me, so no surprise there! SIGHS

i printed it out and traced some of the easy to mess up parts with a pencil, but for the most part improvised immediately with a brush pen.

this was supposed to be the final result

but i was VERY unhappy with it, the hand disturbed me, the white parts disturbed me, the brush pen left too many ugly streaks everywhere.

so in the end i used a black marker to cover it all up and then sprayed some white gouache paint over the lower half so that it wouldn't be TOO monotone.

still, it didn't turn out like i wanted but i think i did manage to salvage it!!
