Two Barrel Saab Project Part 3

This is the troubleshooting section (and finale) of the conversion project. I delayed it repeatedly because of reasons you'll see in the video.

I have a simple question for you, the patrons. Was this video worth making? I couldn't decide if troubleshooting was worth its own video, or if everything I did could've been boiled down to a two minute explanation as part of some other video. Let me know what you think.

Two Barrel Saab Project Part 3

I love long videos

Dr Tom Servo

It is not the end result that makes it interesting and inspiring to watch, it is the journey with all the suffering and hardship that make this a great video, and you one of my favorite storytellers on the Youtubes like Uncle Rich from Rich rebuilds and Scotty from Strange parts. So yeah, it was totally worth making.

It's definitely worth your time making these extended troubleshooting videos! I enjoy them!

Thomas Carr

Is that your first sponsor? NICE!

I liked the extended troubleshooting video, having experienced similar traumas. Your problem reminds me of an SU HIF38 carb I had where the o-ring around the cold-start/choke spindle went so was flooding the engine all the time. Counter-intuitively I had to run with the choke fully out (pull cable) to keep the rpm at 1500+ as the same mechanism raises the idle. I then swapped that carb for "matched" twin SU HS2s, one of which had dodgy throttle plate that wouldn't close enough to keep the idle below 1500. Typical.

To me this video was very much worth it. Its good to see someone tracking faults and learning on the way.

No way, man! I now know what empathy is, I felt the misery every minute, cause I've experienced it...

Ognyan Manchev

The extended troubleshooting video was *(sorry, is) very entertaining. It is interesting and I believe the majority of your viewers find it good and probably want to see more on other cars i nthe future. Also glad to see the Saab finally works better, if not perfect

Andreas Holmstig

And yes; I liked the longer video. That's what makes youtube stuff so much better than TV; slow, methodical, and detailed trips along with the video maker.

Madison Kelly

That happiness when it *finally* works... That's what it's all about (in programming hard projects, too!)

Madison Kelly

I like the long multi-part videos, because it gives us some idea of the length of each of the jobs and in the amount of work undertaken... You couldn't put all of that into a 5 minute video and do it justice!
