The "I's" Have It

As everyone probably knows by now, I was finally able to publish Isolation (Kid Sensation #8), but it did come with a few hiccups, which I'll catalog elsewhere. However, it recently occurred to me that I now have a good chunk of books that all begin with the letter "I":

Infiltration

Incarnation

Isolation

Ignotus

That's four in total - three of which are part of the Kid Sensation series.  Given how the naming convention for that series has worked, I'll probably have to veer away from the "I" titles from now on just to avoid confusion. (I've already had an Amazon rep get confused regarding Revelation and Replication, and I need this book publishing thing to be easier, not harder.)

Oddly enough, I was actually going to choose an "I" title for the Kid Sensation #9.  Because it deals with magic (Jim will be visiting his magic-wielding friends Kane and Gossamer), I really wanted to go with Prestidigitation.  As I've noted before, however, that one's a real mouthful. Tossing it aside, Incantation was my next choice. However, that brought me face-to-face with my "I" problem.  I like it, but I think it'll just be too much at this point - not just another title in the series starting with "I" but three in a row.

Long story short, despite much internal wailing and gnashing of teeth, I think I've settled on the title of (drumroll please)... Conjuration.  (Hmmm...I don't think I've mentioned that title as even a contender before, so you heard it here first!)  It conveys the proper tone for the story, avoids my "I" problem, and actually isn't that common so it has something of a unique quality.

That said, I'm probably not done with "I" titles forever, but I need to put some distance, so to speak, between Isolation and the next one that starts with that letter (although readers may not care enough to be concerned either way).
