I made a better "report"

Hey guys.

I kind of keep track of everything I do, and since I'm working for you, I think it's only fair that you have access to what I'm doing too. So I created a spreadsheet that I plan to update every day:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TCPs1B9zdAyTzh2OMjosu9Xzv_02hLh_tVmm_M5_3A4/edit?usp=sharing

Note that there's a different color for each game, so it's easy to see what I'm working on, and that way you can better decide whether I deserve $1 or $3 or $6 or maybe $0 per month.

Also note that on days when I don't do anything for whatever reason, I write "Nothing" instead of leaving it blank. So if it happens to be the 20th, and you notice that from the 15th to the 19th everything is blank, it's not that I didn't do anything, but that I probably forgot to update the spreadsheet.

Explanation of the spreadsheet

You'll notice that there's a lot of "text editing" scattered throughout the spreadsheet. That's because my work can be divided into three parts:

The first part is where I actually create the images, animations, and lines for each event in the game. When I create these things, I don't put them in the game right away, but I leave them in their own folders. In the spreadsheet, this would be entered as "HST: Angela Dinner" or "HIsland: Chapter 35".

The second part is when I take only the texts from each scene and transfer them from the original files to the game script. I do this separately because it's a way to reread all the lines and identify errors, confusing things, etc. That's when I rewrite most of the lines, and that's what made my games' English a little more tolerable, since I didn't do that before and the result was pure chaos (RPG Maker version of Solvalley, for example).

The third part is actually programming the game. At this point, I have the "final" text in the script, but only the text. I then program everything, make the engine display the correct images and animations, music and audio, player options, variables, replays, etc. Then it's just a matter of testing the game to see if everything is correct, fixing any possible problems, and giving the text a final review.

So, for example, on September 9, the entire day was devoted to creating the images, animations, and lines for the scene "Kelly, Pam, and Maddy".

On September 12, in addition to creating more images, animations, and lines for that scene, I was also taking older texts, transferring them to the game scripts, and reworking everything to make the lines better.

Well, that's it, I'm going back to work now.

In my next report, I will explain my short-term plans for "Honeymoon Island" and "Solvalley School". In the meantime, you can check out the spreadsheet I linked above to see what I am currently working on.

Comments

This is a hell of a clip for creative work. Honestly, I'm way more worried about you burning out then you suddenly deciding you are going to rip us off and run giggling into the night with a few months' worth of Patreon money. Take a vacation once in a while.....
