General Progress Update - Mid August

Hey everyone!

We hadn't noticed it had already been two weeks since we gave our last progress update! We've been working hard and have a few more updates below :)

Realm 2 on Steam

For the Realm 2 Steam release, things are moving along smoothly. While we would like things to be going even faster, Shoe Lace is doing an amazing job with the upgrades.

As of late last week, the lighting and post-work of most of the still images is now complete. We still have three scenes to render, which will then need to be post-worked, but progress is looking good! We'll be sure to show some of these off on Patreon posts up until the release. In the meantime, one of the upgraded images is at the top of this post.

Some of the earlier Realm 2 animations have already been re-animated to match the quality you see later in the Realm. We still need to apply the lighting, render and postwork these, so this will be the priority to enable us to release next month.

The Realm 2 translations for our existing languages (Spanish, Russian and Chinese) have also been more or less completed, and we're working on getting these into the game.

Aside from the work on the Realm 2 Steam release, we're also working hard on getting things in place for Realm 3. We gave some info on our previous progress update and will now give some more below.

Character Upgrades

Work has been completed on all of the key character models to enhance their look. From a technical perspective in Daz, the important characters who were "Genesis 8" are now "Genesis 8.1" models. In layman's terms, the character models who didn't will now have more HD details as we move into Realm 3.

There were always some issues with how a couple of Kali's stripes lined up, much to our annoyance, and we were unable to fix them. This issue was due to how the asset was built, as it was intended for male models only; hence it worked fine on Kerros. Shoe Lace worked some magic, and voila, she is fixed!

We are also working to enhance their models in Blender. There is a slight difference in the game between the models in their still images and the animations due to the different software used. With these changes, we hope to have much higher-quality models and smoother-looking animations as we are also improving the model rigs.

A while back, we also mentioned that we have updated outfits for all of the main characters. These are now all fully implemented with the updated models.

We'll share previews of these animations and character improvements on Patreon-exclusive posts in due course.

Environments

Tae has been working hard to create some new environments, some for Terran, but primarily for the new Elven Realm, High Lathión. We will also share some more of these as we build up to the Realm 3 release. There's no lighting applied, and it's not rendered - but just to see, here are two low-quality previews of the Elven Realm Door and Throne Room. The Throne Room is still a work in progress!

We've been a little quieter recently, but rest assured, we're not sitting still. We're incredibly excited to get Realm 2 out on Steam and begin the release of Realm 3: High Lathión.

Nice! You guys are going off! Thanks for the update (I love reading dev updates thoroughly, so I enjoyed this). I'm HYPED for Realm 3!!! Hopefully, after this, you guys get a nice, well-deserved break too.
