Odysseus - Behind The Scenes (The Seven Realms)

If you had told Odysseus that his brother could climb Mount Olympus and defeat Zeus himself, he would have believed you.

In my mind, Odysseus was a good warrior, but his strength was his intellect. He was not a good Spartiate because he was too emotional and not hard enough. However, he was a good son, brother, and husband.

At first, I wanted him to be kind of a brat, always competing with Atlas for their father's affection. Atlas' death would have been the result of him wanting to show everyone that he is better than his brother. However, I thought it would be better if he was instead sweet and awestruck by his big brother, for Atlas to be somewhat cold to him but sometimes warm, like when he would give him his figs (as Atlas mentioned to Gina during Realm 1).

At first, I had no plan for Odysseus to be The Odysseus. His name was going to be Erebus. But one day, I looked into Spartan names, and there was the name Odysseus. I thought it would be an interesting backstory for Atlas.

After his death, Atlas took care of his family and his descendants to this day.

His death is a core memory for Atlas and is a large part of why he can't give up on Timeo. Some of Atlas' actions will be linked to this traumatic event, so we will hear the name Odysseus again. As we saw at the beginning of Realm 2, Atlas' behaviour towards Odysseus disturbs him until this day.

Character Model:

I wanted him to look enough like Atlas for people to know that they are siblings while being different enough not to be seen as the same person.

He also looks like another character not related to Atlas or him for a particular reason that we won't reveal for a very long time. I wanted to tell you that so you don't think I'm being lazy in creating my characters. Yes, they look like each other. No, they are not related. No, they are not the same person. Hopefully, it will make sense to everyone at some point!
