So… Another update that I was terrified to publish. Due to the build-up to Gina's revelation and the talk with Naya.
For Gina's revelation to have an impact and to understand her despair, I felt like she needed to feel desperate. I wanted the players to wonder "Why is Gina so desperate? Why does she keep forcing herself on Atlas like that?". She needed to be a little bit irritating.
Yes, Gina is desperate, but who wouldn't be in her situation? Growing up with fairy tales of true love and then discovering hers is among the anomalies that nobody talks about. She was taught to fight for her mate, so she stayed when she should have given up and left.
However, I don't blame her, and I hope you don't either.
During her talk with Atlas, I wanted to show how central he had been to her recovery. In her mind, he is the reason why she is still standing today. He is the one holding her whole world in his arms. Is it healthy? Not particularly lol. But she will have the opportunity to discover the real Atlas, not the one from the stories.
As for Naya, I had to rewrite her talk with Atlas several times because I was afraid she sounded too whiney. I didn't want people to think she was childish and didn't realise Gina's pain. She does. She really does.
For me, Gina and Naya are two sides of the same coin. Both wanted to run away. One did it, and the other didn't. Gina should have received the love of her mate, and Naya should have received the love of her pack. They both were rejected harshly and persecuted, but they both continued to fight for them. I hope you enjoyed the set-up for Gina's journey and that you ultimately like where we take it.
We will expand Naya and Gina's personal stories in their optional paths if you decide to play them. Hopefully, you will like what I plan for them. And I hope you choose to help them grow and reach their potential (or you can watch the world burn and decide to take a darker path lol).
The fight at the end with the Alphas was originally going to be a little different. When I initially wrote it, Naya would kill the Alphas no matter what. Then when it came to getting the assets together, I decided to have them survive and submit to Naya. In the end, I decided to give the option for both. You will realise some of the consequences of your choice in Naya's optional path later in the game.
Also, did you rip out the Alpha's tongue? I love creating the moments when Atlas is ruthless.
