Kali - Behind The Scenes (The Seven Realms)

Fun fact, initially, Kali was supposed to be a man called Odin. The story was different at the start, so it was more logical for this character to be male. However, on a dog walk one day, I suggested the idea of the character change to Jay, and he ultimately agreed. And Odin became Kali. I still miss my little Odin. He was so cool and a great bro for Atlas. But I think it was the best decision as Kali quickly became one of my favourites.

Kali has a cool exterior and prefers to keep to herself. She sees the world in black and white and thinks everybody is out to get her. It's hard for her to trust people or get attached to them, but when she does, there is nothing in the world that would cause her to give up on them.

The world and sun can fail, but Kali's love for you will never waver.

The fact that fairies raised her is one of the core elements of her personality and will impact her interactions with others throughout the game and during the events of the Sixth Realm.

I can't go too deeply into her character just yet without spoiling the Third and Sixth Realm, so I will stop there for now.

Character Model:

I wanted to give her some of Lucius' features while also giving her a family resemblance to Leyala. I'm pretty happy with how she turned out. I think she was maybe the seventh or eighth character I ever created. She has Lucius' nose, eyes and frown. Her mouth is similar to Leyala's, and she inherited the violet of her eyes from Effie.

I also wanted her to have a more petite ass and boobs than the other leading girls to have more diversity in the main cast.

Then the markings. In the universe of The Seven Realms, Sprites have different markings according to their powers. We will explore this more in a behind-the-scenes post about Sprites at a later date. Kali's markings mean that she has the potential to become one of the most powerful Sprites alive. That's even more surprising as non-pure Sprites typically have no markings, no matter how powerful they are. But also not so surprising when you look at her lineage.
