Writing:
This first update was the hardest for me to write. I needed to make it interesting while making sure I provided enough information to the player for them to understand the world setting. It was also the first time I tried to write a whole story in English and not in French. So, because of all of that, I decided to have a simple first scene to not overwhelm myself at the start.
A meeting in a bar is nothing new, but it works perfectly for what I had in mind. The discussion between Atlas, Tasha, and Zyair allows the player to know quickly who they are and what is the situation in the world. Then right away, we meet Leyala and the action starts.
Finding a logical reason for Leyala to follow Atlas in the Vampire Estate was a struggle. Why would any sane person follow a Vampire to their home? All the more when he starts talking about being bonded to you? The answer I found is to have werewolves attack Leyala. That also works with the plot I have planned, so it was perfect.
I also wanted a logical reason for Leyala and Atlas to be intimate the first night of knowing each other. A lot has happened and one of the most instinctive reactions within humans during emotional distress is to search for comfort through physical means. Adding to the power of the bond, it was normal that Leyala would seek comfort within Atlas’ arms, without going all the way. Well, unless you decided to be a dick around her.
Technical Aspect:
I struggled so much to pose the first few scenes as I was a true debutant in Daz and I asked myself several times if I should have done a 2D game instead of a 3D one. I looked at my drawing of objects and I really considered it. Then I looked at my character drawings and gave up pretty quickly lol.
I wanted to move people’s arms and they just didn’t want to cooperate. Then I wanted to put expressions on their faces, and it just looked weird. Then the lights… I did my best, but yeah… I even followed tutorials, but I just couldn’t find the right way to do it.
As for the animation… I spent a lot of time working on them. I know they are not perfect, but the more I will work on them, the better they will become. Alternatively, if the game earns enough money I would love to hire a professional animator.
Despite all the hurdles I have encountered, I am still happy with what I produced with the knowledge I had at the time. I am hoping to improve and for you to be able to see my progression throughout the future updates.
