So first thing's first: I love tech trees and the possibilities they offer) That said, my concern with such extensive trees is balancing and math: 1) given how large they are, we (as players) may run into the problem that certain branches are mathematically superior to other branches and there's no way to know that in advance 2) of greater personal concern, if there's no option to reroll stats (which I assume is the case since you couldn't reroll stats in previous Sunriders and from an immersion perspective it makes more sense) either a solid understanding of the game's math is required to make informed/correct decisions in terms of upgrades to units or a VERY detailed tutorial is required or the game needs to be consistently forgiving of mistakes. Some things are intuitive: your sniper most likely requires high accuracy and damage/per shot fired, while your tank requires high armor and it doesn't make sense to try turning one into the other. However, this gets much more complicated for hybrid units. How much armor is enough? How much is too little? Should the unit be upgraded with lasers or kinetics or both? Again, how much weapon damage is enough and how much is too little? And if in later stages of the game the underperforming weapon becomes useless due to math, that means there was no point in upgrading it in the first place. A player would also need to know how many upgrade points you get in total for the entire game for every unit and how much these points cost, or at least some sort of hint about these numbers. In short, from a lore/immersion perspective tech trees are great. But I would love to get some information from you guys about how the game's math is presented to the player and how important it is to understand it to beat the entire game on, lets start with, normal difficulty. Thanks!
