Updates!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to update you a bit on the channel and where I'm at right now. Lots of exciting things are happening and as a result I've been insanely busy over the past couple months.

First off, I hosted a screening of "Vampire's Kiss" with some other creators in Toronto and honestly, it's one of my favourite movies now. At the end people were filing out and no one could decide if the movie was satire or not (I think it is). Highly highly recommend if you haven't seen it.

This is on the DL - but I'm working on a series with the CBC for their Youtube channel! It's about the Canadian film industry and why it seems to be chronically suffering. I mean, can you name a Canadian film that you've watched in the past 10 years? Most likely not (but if you have please share). So that's taking up the bulk of my time - which is why I will not be posting a video this month unfortunately. But hopefully the series will make up for the gap!

I also have Rehash - which seems to be picking up steam :) we just had Rayne Fisher-Quann on and we've got lots of exciting episodes lined up in the upcoming weeks.

And then lastly, and this is the MOST secret/exciting - I'm currently working on some ~literary~ pursuits. Very excited to be able to share that with you guys in the future but I'm under contract so don't want to spill the beans too much! Overall very excited about the year and really enjoying getting to see how many opportunities the channel has afforded me. Feeling very lucky <3

Thank you guys so much again for all your support - hope you've been enjoying the early access episodes and I will keep you in the loop!

PS: I went to a screening of Spice World (criminally underrated film) and now I can't stop listening to this lesser known Spice Girls song:

PSS: I just read The Lonely City by Olivia Laing and it's amazing - trying to read more essay collections this year. Go read if you haven't!

yesss you are the #1 expert on all things Canadian film! and yeah the american studios intentionally dissolved any chance at a studio system here unfortunately

total drama is def one of our proudest exports!

um, the only films i can think of are america films that were filmed in canada so that doesn't count. and i know the new season of total drama is coming out soon. now that i think about it i know more of canadian animation than live action.

Very excited for this Canadian film industry series! I watch plenty of canadian films as a programmer, of course, and I’m currently taking a Canadian Cinema History class so I watch a Canadian feature every week (Videodrome- not a fan. Jesus of Montreal- pretty cool. Disappointed in lack of women-directed films were being shown though.) and I was interested to learn about how Canada has never had a studio system like Hollywood (just the NFB) and that there are no #cancon requirements for cinemas like there are for tv and radio! I think that would change things if our cinemas were required to show Canadian film! Excited for you for all this that you’re doing! πŸ‘πŸ» and I agree Spice World is overlooked and Saturday Night Divas is a sweet jam.
