The church scene at the end 1) One of my FAVORITE gospel songs/performances. 2) Everyone who sang it was their actual voice except for the mom. The little girl is Tiffany Evans. She had a real popular song back in the mid 2000's with Ciara called Promise Ring. She also has this fire collab with T-Pain called Textin My Ex.

2025-02-19 06:15:28 +0000 UTCHey Mell! I just wanted to express my appreciation for your reactions. I really love watching you engage with the movies, especially when you're enjoying them! There are so many amazing films that represent African American culture. I get that Tyler Perry might not resonate with everyone, and I totally understand that. I grew up on hood classics and in that environment, so I really resonate with your content right now! But there are also a lot of films that portray our culture in different ways if you're looking for that perspective. It’s true that not every movie has to dive into the "struggle" or "stereotypes." However, it used to be rare to see any representation of our "realities" in films. Nowadays, it’s more common, sometimes to the point of feeling "typical" or "cliché" to some viewers. I’m glad you’re branching out to watch more of these films! This list isn't exhaustive, but here are some movies I think you might enjoy that capture different facets of our culture: - Hidden Figures - Malcolm X - Coach Carter - Lean on Me - Judas and the Black Messiah - Do the Right Thing (and really any Spike Lee film) - Higher Learning - House Party - Love Jones - All About the Benjamins (something lighthearted) - Barbershop - Drumline - School Daze - ATL Hope you find some gems in there!
