A talk about my journey and the things I learned
Added 2024-06-28 14:59:01 +0000 UTCHere is a recent talk and presentation I did with the students at the University of Houston and their Animation Club.
I go through my journey as an animator and the various things I learned along the way. I think this talk could be of interest to those who are interested in how I got to where I am, and has advice if you are also trying to grow as an artist.

Hey there! That is a bit hard to quantify, but with enough fundamentals, getting started in the industry isn't too difficult. I believe my old demo reel from when I first started looking for work is on my channel. I think that is a good point of reference to see where I was in terms of ability when I started.

2024-10-08 13:14:49 +0000 UTCHi there, I was wondering to ask, generally what level of skill should one have before considering applying to animation studios and how long could it possibly take one to achieve that level? cool video btw thanks for your work

2024-10-07 21:02:09 +0000 UTCThe peg holes and the punch should be the same in Japan and the rest of the world. I've been using the same peg bar from college for almost a decade here in Japan and back in Canada. I think back in the west I used to use 12f paper which was larger than standard letter size paper, but in Japan we just animate on standard A4 size paper. The quality of the paper was not that high for the rough animation and it's similar to normal printer paper. The inbetweeners/douga artists get much higher quality paper though! I used to use gts and opentoonz to register the holes, but since I'm mostly drawing digitally now, I've been using the OLM Peg Hole Stabilizer mostly to quickly line up my director's paper drawings! I hope this answers your questions!

2024-07-03 03:07:51 +0000 UTCA friend of mine just bought a puncher in Japan. It has a acme style punch but it's going very tight to the outer side of the flat pegs. Besides that I wonder which field and paper size you're using and the quality. Do you use opentoonz auto registration, GTS of Ghibli or something else to scan and register the drawings? Nice video!! Thanks!
