Randomized Runs | Patreon Weekly #336

Hey Patrons! In this weekly I’m going to go over the poll results from Patreon Poll #71, and share some info on a new feature coming to hero select in v3.3!

Firstly, here are the results from Patreon Poll #71:
87%: Skeleton Key Artifact
33%: Spyglass Trinket
33%: Artifact Levelling Trinket
27%: Rapidfire Wand
22%: New Thrown Weapons
I suppose these results aren’t too surprising considering it has been over 10 years since shattered got a new general artifact! I’ll be adding the key, and one or both of the trinkets. One interesting thing to note here is that support for the Rapidfire wand different substantially from silver to shattered tier patrons. Counting all votes at 1x (instead of silver at 0x and shattered at 2x) puts the wand at 40% support, second place! More dedicated players seem to feel the wand was a bit too simple, so I might like to try it again in the future, but I’ll think about adding a twist of some kind.

Progress continues on the ‘tester area’ for the new quest this week. In particular, I’ve almost fully implemented a system for storing and retrieving player inventory state. That’s not exactly visually exciting though, so here’s one other little thing I’ve worked on:

Ever since adding the Cleric, I’ve been getting lots of requests for a ‘random hero’ button. I’ve decided to do one better and have added support for randomized options to a few choices! Firstly, there’s a new “randomize” button in hero select, which opens up this little sub-menu:

Once you’ve made a choice, these options are randomly chosen, and you’re shown what challenges are enabled (if any). Once you’re in-game, there’s also an option to select random talents (either per-point or all at once), and a random subclass and armor ability.

I’ve even decided to add a badge if you manage to play a run that’s purely randomized (this also serves as proof in your rankings). To get it you need to pick a random hero, random subclass, random armor ability, and only ever spend talent points randomly.

Wow, that's amazing, hehe! This update really caught me off guard. It's so handy, especially for when I just can't be bothered to pick everything myself. Absolutely brilliant!
