Final v3.2 Patches | Patreon Weekly #329

Hey Patrons, I’ve spent most of this week doing some smaller patch work to wrap up on v3.2. This includes a couple of final interface tweaks that I thought I’d show off. There’s also a new Shattered Secrets to check out this week, where I share some early hazard concepting on the upcoming city quest! There’ll also be an Audio Q&A next week! The first tweak is actually based on the results of Patreon Poll #69! Here those are:
32%: Right Overlapping (as-is)
27%: Left Overlapping
65%: Right Additional
I think this result makes a lot of sense. When shielding as a mechanic first came into existence it would often appear in small more persistant amounts on an already-full HP bar. Nowadays shield is much more often seen in larger more temporary amounts applied to already-injured characters. Because of this it’s beneficial to to more clearly see what your effective HP is.

On the topic of health bars, I’ve also noticed while making all these recent changes that the desktop UI never really got its own boss HP bar. That’s a pretty easy fix, just copying over some of the spritework for the hero’s desktop HP bar to appropriately embiggen things:

I’m also making a few small final followup tweaks to the mobile status pane and menu button. Firstly, for mobile users with top-left hole punches, the status pane can now extent a bit to the right to try and aboid the hero sprite getting cut off:

And I’m tweaking the menu pane a bit so that the version info looks less like an empty HP bar:

Lastly, due to popular demand the title screen is getting a new button at the bottom that lets people get a full unobstructed view of the new scrolling background!
