Plans for v3.2 | Patreon Poll #65

Hey Patrons! Firstly, go read this week’s weekly if you haven’t already!

In this poll I’m asking for your thoughts on what you’d most like to see developed next, now that v3.1 is close to releasing. I’m offering two quest focused options, and two options for equipment changes based on loose designs I shared in this week’s weekly.

Note that this is not a guaranteed poll, I am not forced to pick the top choice, but obviously the poll results will influence my decision. The result of this poll will help me decide what to do for v3.2!

Poll Options

Please vote for all the options that you like, not just for your one favourite! I allow multiple votes as it means that a higher proportion of people will end up voting for the winning choice. Note however that multiple choice polls have been finicky on Patreon for a while, so you may need to refresh the page/app to verify your choices or vote for multiple options.

All patrons are encouraged to share their opinion by commenting and voting, but currently only the votes from Golden+ Supporters are counted when determining a poll winner. Votes from Shattered Supporters are worth double!

City Quest: This is the default option for the next update and what I was planning initially. This would be a rework to the city quest, focusing on the Imp tasking you with retrieving an artifact from a dwarven vault. As the v2.X updates taught me, adding a full new quest is a lot of work though, and there’s still quite a bit of designing to do here. Note that this option will likely mean v3.2 takes substantially longer to develop than the other choices.

3rd Caves Quest Variant: A quest-focused alternative, based on a poll from last year. I do still want to eventually add a 3rd variant for the caves quest, but also want to balance it vs. other things. The current plan was for a fungus-focused variant with an emphasis on static ranged defenders, but I do reserve the right to change that up if it doesn’t work well in testing. I expect this choice will result in a v3.2 that takes a bit longer than the next two choices, but it’s hard to be sure.

Armor Expansion: As mentioned in this week’s weekly, this would be an expansion to the armor system mainly focused on theme variety, with some gameplay changes that aren’t too dramatic. This would include a simple ‘+DEF/-ACC’ armor set at T2-4, to mirror the ‘+ACC/-DMG’ weapons, and probably 1 or 2 more exotic armors at each tier as well. Take a look at this weeks weekly for full details. I expect this option to take a bit longer than thrown weapons (as it’ll involve new items), but it should be quicker than the two quest options.

Thrown Weapon Sets: Another one from this week’s weekly, this would be a changeup to thrown weapons that would make them exist in predefined ‘sets’ instead of being regularly stackable. The mainly upside to this is the more consistent quantities woudl make upgrade work a lot more like they do on wands, and hopefully make upgrading thrown weapons more appealing. Just like with armor, look at the weekly for full details. This option is mostly focused on changing up stats for existing items, and so I expect it will be the quickest to develop.

i'd really be happy with any of these! voting for metro quest and thrown weapon changes, bc i think those two things need the changes the most urgently, but this is a case where i'm really excited for all of the above

Undecided on specifics, to be honest this is a nice change to reconsider the challenge a little, though I wouldn't want to remove the gameplay that it creates. Off the top of my head I suspect the special armor properties would not change significantly but there would still be a strong nerf to overall defence. Yes that might make exotic armors strictly better with FIMA, but I don't think that's necessarily a problem.

How would these armor effects work with faith is my armor? Would the bonus effects be lessened too or not?
