Hey Patrons, in this weekly I’m going to go over some upcoming visual improvements to Shattered’s title and splash art! The content here originally appeared in a Shattered Secrets post in December 2024.

Aleks and I have been working on some visual changes for v3.0, mainly focused on the hero splash arts!
(Note that the new images are not 100% accurate to how they’ll appear in-game. In addition to GIF compression, there may be touchups and adjustments made before release.)
Firstly, there’s the Warrior. We’ve got plans to improve the proportions (the Warrior should be beefier!), and are experimenting on the background, broken seal design, and armor details. Unfortunately this one in particular isn’t finished yet, and may be delayed to v3.1. I’m going to make some Warrior changes then anyway though, so it fits fairly well. Here’s a little GIF of our partial progress so far, please keep in mind that this is unfinished!

Next up is the Mage, whose gotten some detail adjustments but is otherwise pretty similar:

The Rogue has gotten more substantial changes, with detail and face adjustments, and a total background and lighting overhaul!

The Huntress has gotten big changes to the lighting, the background, the bow, and her face.

Lastly, just for fun, there were earlier 1.0 versions of the Duelist and Cleric which never saw the light of day. Here’s the Duelist:

And lastly, there will be some title screen changes coming to v3.0.0 as well! We may look to change the background in the future, but for now it’s just the title text and torches:

"This may be a long ways off, but what do you think about the idea of every boss dropping some type of special item that affects gameplay? For example Tengu drops his mask and Rodney drops his crown. What other possible items would other bosses drop?" - Terry
The above question was skipped by mistake, sorry about that! To answer it, Yog gives the amulet of course, and Goo/DM-300 both drop unique alchemy items. Obviously the alchemy items aren't as impactful as the mask or crown, but there's not really enough design space for every boss to drop an item like that. I would like for the alchemy produce to be a bit more impactful though.
