Progress on v2.5 | Patreon Weekly #268
Added 2024-07-22 16:50:12 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, in this weekly I’m going to summarize what work is left to do before v2.5 can go to beta.
There’s a few other things to go through first though. Firstly, there’s a new Shattered Secrets this week! This month I’m sharing some more art progress I’ve recently made with Aleks.
Second, there’ll be an audio Q&A next week! You can ask questions here or in the Patreon discord.
And most importantly, here are the result from Patreon Poll #55:
53%: Strongly Liked
23%: Liked
21%: Neutral
05%: Disliked
00%: Strongly Disliked
I think these results are extremely encouraging. 76% of people already like the proposed changes, an overwhelming 95% were positive or neutral, and there were only two votes for dislike or strongly dislike. Keep in mind these are poll results from some of the game’s most dedicated, and therefore change-resistant players. To me this shows extremely clearly that the new art is going in the right direction, and I plan to show it more publicly soon. Of course, that certainly doesn’t mean that further tweaks and improvements can’t be made. In particular, if you didn’t vote for one of the like options, I’d love to hear from you about what could be changed to win you over. In particular I know that some of the new art is more visually ‘busy’ than you’d like, and that is something that will be toned down.
What’s Left to Do?
V2.5 has ended up becoming a much bigger update than I initially planned, and so my initial estimate of ‘July’ for the beta is unfortunately going to be missed. Things like the full journal overhaul were originally just going to be targeted tweaks, but I kept getting carried away =S. I don’t think I’ll miss the deadline by too much though, and a beta in early August is likely.
With that in mind, here’s what needs to still be done:
There are a few more balance changes I’d like to make, in addition to the changes I’ve already made to things like weapon abilities and existing trinkets. In particular I have some buffs planned for every Monk strategy except meditate spam (sorry!).
I’ve implemented two new trinkets, but would like to add 1-2 more before full release. One of the implemented trinkets slows hunger gain in exchange for less HP regen, and the other enhances major healing effects (e.g. heal potions) in exchange for slowing down the rate they heal at.
V2.5 already includes a huge number of UI and QoL additions, but there are one or two more very small ones I’d like to add before release as well.
And lastly, while it doesn’t affect gameplay I’ve got one more surprise I have to implement in v2.5. Take a look at today’s Shattered Secrets for more info of that.
I’m going to be making a public blog post about v2.5 in the next few days, which will get everyone caught up on roughly what’s needed before release. I expect the first half of August will be a busy month, with v2.5 going to beta, planning on showing the new art more publicly, and Shattered’s 10th anniversary on the 5th!

The most important question to me: how will you buff sniper in 2.5.0?

2024-08-05 04:04:42 +0000 UTCI like the new art but it feels like a big jump for me, looks like a noisy minecraft texture pack a bit. Also just curious, did you end up fixing the parchment blacksmith levelgen issues? it was me and maxi who found them playing races haha.
