V2.4.1 | Patreon Weekly #259
Added 2024-05-20 15:04:25 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, in this weekly I’m going to be sharing some info on v2.4.1, which will be releasing in the next few days.
There’ll also be an audio Q&A next week! You can ask questions here or in the Patreon discord. Note that I’ll be away over the coming weekend, so the weekly and audio Q&A will probably be a little delayed.
Lastly, there’ll be a new Shattered Secrets this week, with some more experimental new pixel art! I’m waiting on one or two more samples before posting it though, so expect that in another day or two.

We’ve also got the results from Patreon Poll #53!
A Bestiary: 71%
Better Landmarks and Custom Notes: 63%
Expanded Catalogs: 51%
More Badges and a Better Badge UI: 49%
Expanded Controller/Keyboard Support: 20%
Based on these results, it seems folks really want the journal to be prioritized. I’ll look into this for v2.5, and already have some ideas for UI improvements. Controller/keyboard support not doing well is expected, given that most Patreon folk are on mobile, but it’s something I want to at least lay some groundwork for, as I’ve consistently gotten feedback from new PC users that current controller support is very lacking.

Overall, the release for v2.4.0 has gone very well, though as always there are little things that need followup fixes.
Firstly, obviously, v2.4.1 is going to have some bugfixes. I’ve already addressed some things in development, and plan to do a little more in the next day or two. There’s only one serious issues, but new update releases always prompt bug reports, sometimes for new things and sometimes for very old bugs that have been overlooked. That series issue is a particular bug with DM-300 currently, where dealing massive damage to it can glitch the fight at 0 HP, rather than activating supercharge.
I’d also like to make some early balance tweaks to all of the new stuff. Gameplay data is a little rough at the moment, but some early trends are definitely emerging that can be addressed. For instance, the mossy clump continues to be the strongest trinket overall, while mimic tooth is showing as not being worth how nasty ebony mimics can be at the moment. Overall though trinket balance seems pretty good, there are just a few outliers on either end.
Lastly, I’m getting started on planning for v2.5.0 as well. In particular I’ve got an idea for better journal UI (as I mentioned above) and will be trying to get a basic proof of concept done for that soon.
