Back from Anime North | Patreon Weekly #208

Hey Patrons, sorry for the delay and another short weekly this week. I’m still quite tired from returning from anime north and need to get moving on finishing up v2.1.0. I do have some loose plans for v2.2.0 that I’d like to share though.

The Rough Plan for v2.2.0 and the Blacksmith Quest

First things first, v2.1.0 needs to get released! I am planning to release an RC-1 beta for it shortly, fixing some more bugs and doing a light balance pass on all of the weapon additions/changes so far. After that I should hopefully be in a position to release it later this week, Sunday at the absolute latest. This is a bit later than I initially planned, but the amount of little issue reports that trickled in over Anime North moved things back a bit.

Once v2.1.0 releases there will be the usual amount of time spent releasing 2-3 patches. Unlike normally though, I’m going to start working on the technical aspects of v2.2.0 at the same time as these patches. Things like properly implementing diggable walls and a way into and out of the quest area can be done without actually releasing the quest, and perhaps I’ll even let the players mess around a little in an empty sub area to test things out.

While that is happening, I hope to pin down the last bits of the blacksmith quest in concepting. You guys can expect to hear more about that fairly soon. As a quick summary, I know that digging through walls and harvesting minerals will be a major gameplay focus, but I want this to augment existing Shattered gameplay design, instead of replacing it. That should make the quest feel more like a proper part of the game, and less like something different that’s been inserted arbitrarily. I previously called the design for these ‘minigames’ and I’m moving a bit away from that.

Once everything above is done, I’ll start working on v2.2.0 proper, which will hopefully be mostly an exercise in filling out content for the framework already added in v2.1.0’s patches.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the game! I'm afraid I don't have any plans to add an account system though, doing that would be a massive amount of work on the server system, security, etc.

With the question about talents for Rune Stones I always thought a bard class would be cool and they could specialize in Rune Stones like the Huntress does with seeds

It's a bit late to change now, and there are also already 3 talents and an armor ability that have 'strike' in the name.
