v2.0.2! | Patreon Weekly #201
Added 2023-04-10 17:01:11 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, in this weekly I’m going to talk about a new weapon, and an upcoming patch for v2.0.0.
There’s also a new poll this week! Poll #40 offers some new weapons to choose from for v2.1.0, and asks a clarifying question about shop layouts.
The Katana
Based on the results of Patreon Poll #39, some new weapons are going to be added in v2.1.0! This week’s poll has some new weapon options, but one that I’ve already locked in is a higher-tier version of the Duelist’s rapier! Since the Duelist’s release there has been a lot of demand for a way to keep the lunge ability relevant in the later stages of the game, so adding a weapon to address that seems like an obvious first choice.
The katana is a T4 melee weapon that trades a bit of base damage for 0-3 damage blocking. Just like with the rapier, the Duelist is going to be able to lunge at enemies with it, dealing bonus damage and always hitting. I expect the damage bonus is going to be a bit lower than the rapier’s massive +67%, probably around +33% or so.
Make sure to look at this week’s poll for some options on two other weapons at T2 and T5. With those additions we’ll have a nicely distributed weapon roster, at 6 T2 and T3 weapons, and 7 T4 and T5 weapons.
Deciding on v2.0.2
While I had hoped to move on to v2.1 more immediately after v2.0.1 (and I have at least done a lot of concepting work), I’ve received enough bug reports that it’s worth it for me to do a v2.0.2, which should release a bit later this week.
In addition to a bunch of bugfixes, v2.0.2 is also going to introduce a significant QoL change that I was originally planning to release with v2.1.0. I have finally overhauled the code for the action indicator, allowing each ability to have its own background color, and a smaller secondary visual on the bottom right that can be either another icon, or text.
I’ve moved a fair bit of information out of the buff icons, and into the new action indicator display. Some of this new information is a bit redundant for desktop users, but I hope that mobile users will appreciate being able to directly see things like stacks of combo or momentum. Here’s a quick before and after visual, showcasing how the indicators now look:

New action indicator display is actually amazing, thank you for releasing it in a patch rather than waiting for 2.1
