V2.0.0 Release! | Patreon Weekly #197

Hey Patrons, v2.0.0 has been released! In this weekly I’m going to summarize how the release is going, and what I’m looking to do next.

There’s also a new Patreon poll this week, covering some options for side content in v2.1.0!

V2.0.0 release and future plans

V2.0.0 released on all platforms yesterday at 1PM EDT, and so far things have gone very well!

I have received a fair amount of messages and feedback, but very few bug reports, and most reports are for fairly minor issues. Based on this, I’m expecting to perhaps only need to release a v2.0.1, which might happen in about a week’s time.

In terms of player engagement v2.0.0 is looking like a success as well. Data isn’t really in for Google Play or the App Store yet, but the game is doing quite well on Steam! Steam has a lot of built-in tools for developers to advertise recent updates, and I’m trying to really make use of them this time with some custom art for the game and a sale to celebrate the update:

You can get an idea of how well this is working from the public data on Steamcharts.com, where Shattered’s overall activity is the highest that it’s been since launch! (It’s worth noting that a big launch and a trail-off is normal for games on Steam)

V2.1.0 will be next, and it will be mostly focused on responding to any balance or general gameplay issues that appear as dust settles from the Duelist’s release. I’d like to get it done in around two months and have publicly given the (slightly conservative) estimate of having something ready for beta by the end of April or in May.

I want to keep v2.1.0 simple partly so that I can quickly respond if it looks like the Duelist has issues, and also to give myself a bit of a break after v2.0.0’s release. This also gives me a bit of space to properly nail down the design for the reworked caves and city quests, which are both tending in a more positive direction after a lot of internal back and forth. You can read a bit about that in a recent Shattered Secrets, but I’ll probably be making some of that info more public fairly soon.
