Duelist Armor Abilities | Patreon Poll #37
Added 2023-01-10 21:47:43 +0000 UTC(hey folks, apologies but I had to re-post this poll as it was accidentally set to single-choice, please vote again!)
Hey Patrons!
Just as with a month ago, work on the Duelist is well underway, and I have pretty solid concepts for all armor abilities, but no implementations. I’d like to gauge interest in each of these designs, and also see which one I should implement first! I will likely start the alpha/beta for v2.0.0 before the Duelist is content-complete, so the result of this poll will likely decide which ability everyone gets to play with first.
The winning choice will be the first Duelist armor ability that I implement!

Please vote for all the options that you like, not just for your one favourite! I allow multiple votes as it means that a higher proportion of people will end up voting for the winning choice.
All patrons are encouraged to share their opinion by commenting and voting, but currently only the votes from Golden+ Supporters are counted when determining a poll winner. Votes from Shattered Supporters are worth double!
Compelled Duel
Compelled Duel forces a target and the Duelist to fight each other one-on-one, regardless of any other enemies that are present. For the duration of the duel the Duelist and target enemy are immune to damage from other targets, and other enemies are immune to the Duelist. The main goal here is to help the Duelist deal with problematic enemies more effectively, and talents may allow her to do things like blink to her chosen enemy or gain benefits from winning the duel.
Parry/Riposte
This ability is already present on the Gladiator, but it fits the Duelist so well I can’t help myself. This ability would work similar to the Gladiator’s parry at base, granting temporary immunity with a free responding strike. Talents would let this ability become more powerful, with things like multiple ripostes or bonus damage.
Elemental Strike
Lastly, this ability allows the duelist to do a powerful attack based on her enchantment. This will probably act like a more focused version of elemental blast, with a bonus effect that varies based on your weapon’s enchantment. Talents might increase the power of the effect, its AOE, or provide an enchant boost for a few turns after the ability is used.
Comments
Granting vision is something that works better for ranged classes IMO, as the Duelist isn't likely to want to fight something near the edge of her vision. Reducing her vision likely would not be very popular, even if there was some benefit in tradeoff. I really want to avoid specific mechanics for weapon combos, I get the thematic appeal but I would much rather have items naturally synergize than force it. Also letting shield block from the secondary slot makes thematic sense but would be very overpowered.

Also, I'd like to see different weapons to be stronger together, when in the correct hands. (e.g. shield in off hand: blocks much and the main hand is "not obstructed"....)
