In this weekly I’m going to go over the recent improvements I made for controller users, and my plans for v1.3.0’s launch!
Implemented Radial Menus
Since last weekly I’ve released beta-3, which includes a full implementation of radial menus!

This goes along with the other tweaks to controller bindings and keyboard bindings I mentioned last weekly, which should substantially improve the game’s usability for controller players. I also decided to tweak bindings in other places too, such as removing the duplication of both the d-pad and left stick being used for movement.
All of these means controller players can now quickly access all quickslots and the inventory, move their character and the controller pointer, and perform 9 other game actions with the default configuration. This is up from quick access to 4 slots, moving the character and the controller pointer, and just 3 other game actions.
I do think there are still things to do for improving controller usability, but this should go a long way toward making the game feel smooth on controller instead of just playable.
v1.3.0 and Patches
With radial menus added I plan to move forward with the release of v1.3.0 around the middle of this week.
There are still a couple things I want to add (desktop UI improvements mainly), but I’m going to put them off to a v1.3.X update in favor of getting v1.3.0 out the door ASAP. I feel like it’s important to do that as it has now been over 3 months since the initial Steam launch, and players on that platform haven’t gotten an update yet. I would much prefer to actually get an update out instead of those players just having to trust that Shattered does indeed get updated regularly, they just haven’t seen it yet.
