Getting v1.1.0 to Beta | Patreon Weekly #129

We’ve also got the results from Patreon Poll #23, though they’re probably not surprising to anyone paying attention:
Replace the Beacon with Alchemize: 91%
Sell both Beacons and Alchemize: 9%
Change Nothing: 0%
Change Beacons to also Convert Items to Energy: 9%
The big thing I wanted to find out from this poll is if people felt much attachment to the merchant’s beacon in particular and clearly the answer to that is no. So, for v1.1.0 I’ll be removing the beacon from shops and instead selling some alchemize uses, though there may be somewhere for the item or its sprite to re-appear in the future.
Finally, for the rest of this weekly I’m going to give a progress update on v1.1.0. We’re getting there!
v1.1.0 Progress
I’ve gotten a bit more work done in the last week, and so I’m hopeful that v1.1.0 will be able to release to beta toward the end of this week!
The most notable thing is the completed changes to the alchemy UI. In the end I decided to largely extend the current layout, instead of creating a new one from scratch. You can also see how I’ve decided to have the toolkit’s energy total work with the new energy system here:

Multiple possible output arrows and output items can appear if certain ingredients have multiple recipes, though currently this just affects scrolls. I’ve made a few tweaks to the way the UI is presented to make it a bit clearer that all the items will combine to make one output or the other.

There are a few more things I’d like to polish up about the interface, but I think it’s in a mostly final state.
I also spent some time last week evaluating spells, elixirs, and brews. Given that a lot is happening to alchemical energy, I’ve decided not to make dramatic changes here yet (aside from alchemize), and have largely just tweaked recipe costs.
Here’s the final list of things I think need to get done for v1.1.0 to release:
- A few final tweaks to the alchemy UI
- Final adjustments to exotic transmutation, exotic strength, and a couple other misc items
- Guidebook changes to accommodate alchemy system changes
- Implementing Summon Elemental and Telekinetic Grab
- Balance changes to talents and armor abilities following v1.0.0 data
- Native executables for desktop platforms (this can be done during the beta)

Yeah, I've felt that a bit too. It's the intersection of releasing on new platforms and various IRL stuff (some good, some bad) that's limited my ability to work on actual new content for Shattered. I haven't locked in v1.2.0 yet but I suspect it'll be another smaller update as well, as there's a growing list of little things to do. The good news is that I expect it'll be faster than v1.1.0 at least.
