With v0.9.3 recently hitting beta, I thought I’d spend this weekly giving some status updates on the various projects I’ve currently got!
v0.9.3
After releasing v0.9.3-beta-1.1, the beta is mostly stable, so my focus is now on getting the last bits of content filled out for beta-1.2. After that I’ll spend some time fixing up the various placeholder sprites, and then make any needed balance tweaks based on feedback.
Initial reception of v0.9.3 has been extremely positive, but there’s been some mixed feedback on the balancing of some abilities. As always I intend to give things a bit of time, and then adjust as needed based on feedback and analytics data. If some drastic changes are needed, I’ll make them.
People are also starting to discover a little secret I put into this update =). If you’re curious, there’s a special second use for Dwarf King’s crown, up on an earlier floor.
iOS TestFlight
So far things are going very well on iOS! The game is stable and all that’s left is to implement a few platform-specific tweaks and adjustments. I do also intend to add v0.9.3 to the TestFlight build once it gets closer to release on Android. I will probably start sharing invites with Pixel Dungeon communities in another week or so, to coincide with v0.9.3 getting to iOS.
Loyalty Rewards
My apologies for the delay on this, the pin designs have been largely finalized for a while now but I don’t have a lot more progress to report. I’m currently a bit stalled in actually finding a manufacturer for the pins. There are many choices and not a lot of ways to tell which of them are actually good. I intend to spend more time researching this, and hopefully getting moving on it soon.
v0.9.4
The plan for v0.9.4 is for it to be a smaller update with a variety of little fixes and improvements. Originally v0.9.4 was going to focus heavily on alchemy, but I’m pulling that back a bit as there are a few other priorities to get to. Here are a few highlights of what I’d like to do:
- Targeted alchemy improvements, but no systems overhaul yet. Runestones will get extra attention as per the recent poll.
- Balance and mechanics improvements to T4 talents and armor abilities, depending on which ones need it the most.
- The start of some new music! I’m probably going to begin with the changed sewers and title screen.
- Merging of the iOS code with the main codebase, and probably a full release on iOS.
- Targeted improvements to the new player experience, such as tips appearing in specific situations, or a very simple guided tutorial to explain the controls.

[Stream question(s)] Hello! I'd be curious to hear if you have anything more you'd like to share about the new music. Some thoughts (not asking for answers for everything): While it sounds like the title screen and sewers might be ready, how are the others? How did the process work? Did the musician/composer have familiarity with the game already? Did you provide e.g. "mood" cues for the levels? The samples you'd shared were great, excited to hear they may be landing in a release soon! Thank you!
