- Firstly, there’s a new patreon poll. I’m considering changes to which bags the heroes start with, and want your input!
For the rest of this weekly, I’ve got some more T3 talents to share, and my current plan for when v0.9.2 will get to beta!
More T3 Talents
I’ve got designs in place for pretty much evert T3 talent now, here are a few of the more interesting ones that I haven’t shared yet, plus a new combo move:
- The Warlock is getting a talent that causes any soul-marked enemy to potentially respawn as a corrupted wraith on death. This gives any warlock build a little taste of necromancy, but dedicated necromancer builds (wand of corruption + corpse dust) will love it as well.
- The Freerunner is getting a talent that gives him various boosts when he is invisible. This starts out helping him build momentum, and eventually allows him to run at 2x speed while invisible, even if he isn’t freerunning.
- The Sniper is getting a talent that increases the power of sniper’s mark in proportion to the level of the thrown weapon she uses. Sniper already encourages thrown weapon use, but my hope is that this talent will encourage some strategies that upgrade thrown weapons directly.
- Lastly, the Gladiator is getting a new combo move called parry, that becomes available at 6 combo (slam is being moved to 4). The move lets the Gladiator bide his time for a turn, and the first attack that comes his way will be dodged and automatically replied with a counterattack! If the warrior dodges an attack, this move doesn’t reset your combo.
Getting v0.9.2 Ready for Beta
Here is what’s currently left to do before getting v0.9.2 to beta:
- 12/32 talents remain to be implemented, I have solid ideas for almost all of these though.
- A couple of the Gladiator’s new mechanics still need to be implemented.
- I’m planning on doing a general balance pass on the game to increase the difficulty before releasing the beta. The game is overall too easy since v0.9.1, and v0.9.2 will probably continue that trend.
- I’ve decided to defer the Tengu’s mask and waterflask changes for now (from poll #12), they’re still coming, just a bit later!
- I’m also considering a few targeted changes to hostile champions. It’s still just a bit too easy, and too random.
- Finally, I have to write a new blog to release with the beta, write in the changelog for the beta, and (finally!) write in some dev commentary for some older updates!
At the pace I’m currently going, I think I’ll be able to push for getting the beta out mid to late this week, perhaps on Thursday or Friday. Hopefully by next weekly the v0.9.2 beta will already be out, and I’ll have something else to show you!
