It's another slightly short weekly as I'm busy gearing up for releasing v0.8.1 to beta, but there's still a few things to show off. Most notably some more new sound effects!
The embedded video above goes over almost all of the additional sound effects coming in 0.8.1. Broken up into segments:
Many of these sounds show up in other places too! Weapons also make use of varying base pitches, so the 'crush' sound from a warhammer will be notably deeper than one from a mace.
At the moment I'm working on wrapping up all the various things coming in v0.8.1. Almost everything I've shared here over the last two months is either ready or will be in another day or two, and so I'm hoping to release the beta (along with a new blog post) on Wednesday this week at the latest.
One notable exception to this ring of tenacity's rework into the ring of protection, which I've decided to defer to a future update. The design is in place, but 0.8.1 is already packed with item reworks, so I felt it was best to spread things out a bit more. Tenacity is also in a pretty good place balance-wise, versus the other items receiving major changes in 0.8.1. I don't expect this will stay shelved for long though, It might end up happening next update.
I expect the beta for 0.8.1 will be quite short, as all of the update's content will be in place. Assuming no major issues pop up, I'd like for it to last a week, which means 0.8.1 should be fully released around the middle of next week.
After 0.8.1, there'll be a little time spent on patches. In particular I wanted to make a few Google Play supporter system interface improvements in 0.8.1, but I've decided to move those to a patch instead. After that it'll be on to the next update, and that new gameplay system I've mentioned a few times. Expect to start hearing early info on that soon...
