I really do love buddy cop movies, they are just so much fun! Though this one has a really dark edge to it, which I appreciated.
Danny Glover plays the straight cop very well. I'd love to see him in a different role at some point.
Mel Gibson was way more wild than I'm used to, so it was a pleasant surprise. He plays the reckless character well, but he really shines in the serious, heartbreaking moments.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie. You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

The fight coordinator for Mel Gibson's fights was Grandmaster Rorion Gracie, who had started the first Brazilian Jiujitsu school in the US, and later founded the UFC and introduced the US to MMA. This was the first time that Brazilian Jiujitsu was shown in an American movie.
