Gene Hackman poll

I've seen him in "A Bridge Too Far" (awesome movie, by the way!!), and with his passing, it's a good time to check him out in another movie.

I've learned that he stopped acting in the early 2000s, which is very interesting since a lot of actors seem to never stop acting.

As usual, you can vote for multiple entries. I've heard of about half of these movies, and I'm very curious to see what will win out.

The poll ends on March 12th!!

A Mel Brooks movie, a score by Hans Zimmer, a story by John Grisham, a movie with (a young) Willem Dafoe, and so many more for you to choose from!

Loose Cannons isn't on this poll. So that is my write in vote.

Ashley

yes, I'm surprised unforgiven isn't winning. I'm also surprised No Way Out is doing so bad, it is a really good thriller, of course he not the lead in that ethier. The French connection was really his break through movie.

Scott Howard

'Unforgiven' won't win a "Gene Hackman" poll as he wasn't the *main* character. Though he played that role extremely well. I know little to nothing about the other films on this poll, either forgettable or ignorable. Unforgiven is first a Clint Eastwood film, Hackman just excellently played his role.

Spiret Nightveil

Me too, I hope you will get to it someday. The cast alone makes it a must see!

ded cowbowee

I've heard great things about that film, I honestly thought it would win haha

Verowak

"Unforgiven" he played that role with such pure relish! I've seen all of these, but he made a statement as "Little Bill" in "Unforgiven'' working with Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman brought out one great performance!

ded cowbowee

It didn't make the rng list:(

I've enjoyed everything that I've seen Sigourney Weaver in so far. I wish I had the time to watch every movie 😭

Verowak

I know it's Wes Anderson, and he has a distinct visual style. I've seen pictures of his different films and they look so colorful and neat!

Verowak

No "Absolute Power" (1997)?

JAKH

Yes. A cinephile's work is never done!

AuntVes

For something really different from what we've come to expect from Gene Hackman and Sigourney Weaver, I present the truly decadent "Heartbreakers" (2001).

ButtercupsTrueLove

Hackman once referred to "The Conversation" as " ...the pinnacle of my acting career in terms of character development.” There are other reasons why I like this film, entirely separate from the superb screenplay and the performances, but I'll get into that if we watch it here someday.

ButtercupsTrueLove

The Poseidon Adventure is by far one of his best performances!

Wade Wallenstein

The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite stand alone movie along with The Prestige (LOTR is my overall favorite). The Royal Tenenbaums is equal parts hilarious, melancholic, and moving.

Coire Jones

For me, Hackman’s best was The Conversation.

Cliff Adams

Just giving you a hard time. You got Young Frankenstein on there which is most important. Highly recommend it, it’s brilliant. I bought a blu ray player just for that movie. As someone mentioned earlier he does not have a large role (one scene), but it fantastic.

TeatroGrottesco

Luck of the draw for it not being there lol I took a handful of movies that I had never heard of 😅

Verowak

I'm very curious about most of them, but I remember seeing Poseidon Adventure a lot while throughout my channel's recent history. I think he's prominent in most of these movies except Young Frankenstein (which I had no idea if he had a big role or not) lol

Verowak

They're all worth watching, Vero. I bet most will vote for THE FRENCH CONNECTION (which contains the first "modern" car chase) or THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS. His role in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is very small, but brilliant. MISSISSIPPI BURNING is most apt considering current political struggles. I'm voting for THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, since it's a staple of early disaster movies, star-studded and rather fun, if harrowing.

AuntVes

No Heist? 😂
