Another based on a true story movie!! 🤩
Thankfully I've seen Dave and Forrest Gump so I knew what this was going to be about quickly 🤣
I am so amazed at the acting, memorizing, the cinematography and all the planning of the scenes to make it feel realistic.
Such a well made movie, and I'm impressed with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman.

I;m sure this has been revealed elsewhere, but Deep Throat was Mark Felt, Deputy Director of the FBI at the time. Woodward and Bernstein kept his secret until 2005, when Felt, then 91, revelaed his role in the Watergate investigayion.

I think if you didn't live through Watergate, and/or haven't studied it, it's can be really hard to follow at times.. so, there's no need to feel bad or apologize. This movie was made for a specific type of 70s US-specific news nerd, but then unexpectedly turned out to be some sort of masterpiece. +1 on other recommends, Spotlight and The Post, for similar-vibe flicks. I'd toss in The Insider and State of Play (coincidentally both starring Russell Crowe). The Big Short also gives me the same kinda feels. I miss adult movies.

2025-01-24 02:22:02 +0000 UTCWhat I love about this film is that its like a time capsule of journalism that is long dead, when journalistic integrity and making sure the public knew the truth about things was more important than partisan politics. If you want another recommendation I HIGHLY recommend the outstanding movie "Spotlight" about the Boston Globe when they exposed the Catholic priest abuse scandals and all the cover-ups. A definite eye-opener of a story you might not know all the details of. And yes DEFINITELY watch The Last Castle, a very underrated thriller that doesn't get the notoriety it should have when it came out. Redford is excellent and a great supporting cast.
