Clone Wars Episode 520 (109) *FULL LENGTH REACTION

You know, I was always iffy on the Jedi Council and sadly, Clone Wars has made me dislike them EVEN MORE.  "You passed a test, which makes you an even better Jedi knight" screw you Yoda and Windu and the rest, like seriously?!  You so easily cast someone aside, don't even trust them and then try to turn it around for them to stay.

I am really curious to see the next two seasons since I feel like we'll see more of the council's distrust for Anakin which will be infuriating.  I'm glad that Ahsoka left though, she deserves to be with people who trust her and believe in her.  It would be awesome if Anakin left the Jedi Order too, but that's obviously not going to happen.

This arc was simply fantastic and I like how things played out.  Very good story telling and very good music all throughout!  100% an arc that I'll rewatch and listen to the music.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Next week we start... SEASON 6!!!

And I am not sure I will ever forgive Obi-wan for not even fighting for her. :(

I'm really glad comments were held back, it's MUCH better to see this arc with no expectation. I'm glad the she was written off in a way where she doesn't die, this is MUCH more impactful for Anakin. Unless of course, Mace Windu would have been the one to try to go capture her and ended up killing her. I'm glad Dave Filoni managed to convince Lucas for these things to be implemented, it seems like he's a pretty good Star Wars story/universe developer, though he hasn't worked on Andor or Obi-Wan Kenobi.

You can definitely understand why we really had to hold back on comments about this arc until you finished the season. Arguably the most essential arc in the series in regards to the effect it has going into Revenge of the Sith, at least so far. It gives us an great answer to why Ahsoka is not in that movie, but also does it in a way that accomplishes so many other simultaneously: contributing to Anakin's disconnect with the council and jedi ideologies, showing how far the jedi and the senate have fallen, and it also left Ahsoka's future open ended, as I think it would have been too easy to kill her off. It would be logical, but also kind of a waste because she was so well developed and had become a true fan favorite at this point. Also, yes, the music playing during the credits is her Ahsoka's theme. This particular iteration of the theme is appropriately titled "Ahsoka Leaves". Dave Filoni actually had to do a lot of convincing to George Lucas in this arc for two specific things: 1-to allow this episode to fade into the credits and while playing Ahsoka's theme, as opposed to the usual abrupt credits with the standard clone wars ending music, 2-to write off Ahsoka in a way that allows her to live, as opposed to writing her death. Thank goodness he did. I see that others have mentioned it as well, but what you suspect is true, rewatching Revenge of the Sith is a whole different experience having the knowledge of the series going into it.

Oh it's definitely not easy to walk away, especially when this is her whole life. I'm glad she's taking the chance though! I'm really looking forward to rewatching Episode 3 after finishing Clone Wars, oh boy will it be an amazing movie!! Anakin is the perfect example of making calm, well thought out decisions. I'm sure he'll be fine with Ahsoka leaving /s 🤣 Alright sold! Tales of the Jedi after Clone Wars, and THEN I'll hop into Rebels. I may start Bad Batch afterwards/during the live action ones also, but I'll see when I get there.

Most people will come to the same conclusion of "just walk away" or "she's not going back to the order" which is an easy conclusion, but the hardest part about it for Ahsoka is what else is there? You asked who are her friends outside of the jedi, but the jedi provide everything. Credits, housing, transportation, food, etc. Once you leave the order you really have nothing, so that's a really hard decision to make, which makes it even more heartbreaking that Ahsoka put her livelihood and all her friendships aside to do what she felt was right. So, we know how this story ends ultimately, and we've seen through the clone wars how all of these events are shaping Anakin. This is a dagger straight to the heart. Anakin definitely had his issues with the council before, but now losing his padawan and one of his best friends because everyone but him turned against her and he didn't do enough to bring her back is going to really hurt. He even had to emphasize that not only was the council asking her back, but HE was asking her back, and she still said no. She said he was the only one that stood by her, but that won't make him feel better, if anything he'll be more angry about it. We know how Anakin feels about things out of his control... This arc really hits home with perspective on other parts of Star Wars and why the re-watch of Episode 3 is SOO different after watching clone wars. You hear some about Anakin having issues with the council in Episode 3, but then you watch it again after watching Clone Wars and you just flash back to all the different moments in the series where he had issues with the council and you're like "well of course he has issues with the council". Then you add in your new perspective of the council and the members of the council and you really get a totally different view of the movie. So much fun to re-watch after clone wars. I don't know if it'd been mentioned before, but between Clone Wars and Rebels is the perfect time to watch Tales of the Jedi. There's 6 episodes about 10-15 minutes each that fill in some gaps in the prequel era and the last episode is sort of a bridge between clone wars and Rebels.

😂Anakin sure can be convincing sometimes

I love non-happy endings, they just hit very differently. Having this be the end of what is expected of Clone Wars would leave so many questions! And what a way to end, really. To me, the Jedi council are just so overconfident and sure of themselves, and believe that the Force will alert them of anything wrong. So the fact that the Dark side clouds everything, makes their incompetence show way more. They also believe that things happen for a reason, and the Force uhhh finds a way. It really feels like they are fanatics and for the most part can't think for themselves. They are extremists and, extremists tend to not have an open mind and truly believe that their way is the correct and best way to do things. I'm fine with how Clone Wars has shown them, they haven't had much focus and I think it helps in that case. Because if we see Mace or Yoda be smart throughout the first 5 seasons, and then we see them in this final arc, I would feel like there are character inconsistencies. That's just my perspective, and it makes sense with the information I was given 🤣 I would obviously have loved more episodes, but sometimes too many episodes ends up being a bad thing. It's a tricky situation imo

Bariss is really a sad case, and like you said, what Mace said is just such a terrible thing to say. I'm sure I'll be rooting for Anakin in episode 3 when he meets up with Mace 🤣 No one listening to Bariss is just such a slap to the face. She is so right, but they just ignored her words like completely fools! Also such a shame that Lucas sold to Disney, we could have had so many more amazing episodes!! I really liked the orchestra, the music felt very special this arc and it makes complete sense why it should :D The books/comics are things I would like to read afterwards so I can have more Star Wars!!!

Well, you’ve finished The Clone Wars seasons that all us first run viewers got to see at the time. You have to understand that to us, this was the end of the show, and we did not find out until months later that the creatives were being given an opportunity to finish and release some episodes that had been partially completed to that point (with finished scripts, voice work, storyboards, and animatics just awaiting the full animation treatment). It was such a sad and bittersweet ending with many tears; which I actually really appreciated because I am weird and not everything has to be a happy ending (see Infinity War and Empire Strikes Back). You also made me laugh quite a bit through these seasons because you have always been SOOOOO angry with the Jedi Council (murderous devil Vero in full force on this reaction!)! They are definitely a bunch of morons, but my anger with them was well spent by the conclusion of the Prequels; I’ve been on this soapbox already so I’ll keep it brief. Those Jedi Council characters were let down by the writing, primarily during the Prequels, but then by the failure of the Clone Wars creatives in these first 5 seasons to clearly demonstrate how they were being manipulated into being incompetent ignoramuses. “Dark side of the Force clouds everything” and knowing a Sith Lord is working in the shadows is not acceptable; SHOW us just how those deceptions are being accomplished, otherwise you’ll have fans wanting to personally Force choke everyone of these supposedly wise masters that have the intelligence of mushrooms. Looking forward to you wrapping up the final parts; the reinstated Season 6 stuff, and the reincarnated Season 7 conclusion!

I remember watching this Arc as a kid on Cartoon Network and just losing my mind. I completely understand where you're coming from and why Ahsoka left, it's gotta be so hard for her. Everyone except Anakin and Padme abandoned her. Even Jedi who wanted to stand with her like Obi-Wan who stated that they should stand with her kinda just let this happen. She would be dead if it wasn't for Anakin and Padme. And what Mace said just pisses so many people off, rightfully so, that's kinda a fucked up thing to say after someone was almost sentenced to death. Bariss just makes me sad more than it makes me angry. The fact that she felt she had to do this to her friend to make the Jedi and the Republic realize that they're losing themselves in this war, but no one in that room listened or cared about a word she said, all these people died for nothing. I think that, more than anything communicates to us watching that it's too late. The Republic has fallen, it's just that no one realizes it or wants to accept it, and now we're hurtling towards the end, which at this point is less than a year away from Revenge of The Sith. The shot with Anakin and Ahsoka was beautiful. Dave saw a beautiful sunset and decided to paint it and put it in the show. As others have pointed out this episode had an orchestra and it was for that final moment with Anakin and Ahsoka and the Credits. The Credits music is an orchestral version of Ahsoka's Theme which is perfection. So during the same year Season 5 was going on George sold Star Wars to Disney and Season 6, originally called The Lost Missions, went on Netflix. Unfortunately most of the unfinished Arcs never got made, although some of them were preserved in books and comics, Son of Dathomir and Dark Deciple, and can be read after Season 6. Really looking forward to your thoughts and feelings on the next Season.
