Hans Zimmer themed poll!
Added 2023-10-07 18:00:05 +0000 UTCIt's time to start a new poll to choose a movie that I will react to! This poll runs for 2 weeks, so get your votes in asap.
As usual, you can vote for more than 1 option π
Hans Zimmer is one of my favorite music composers, and he's scored a LOT of movies. So, that being said, here are a bunch of his movies that I haven't seen!!
There are a LOT more movies, but here is a handful of them for you to choose from π

2023-10-11 12:54:00 +0000 UTCI don't want to taint the list by getting into specifics, there's just an awful lot of bangers here. Like THE top-notch of the top-notch.

2023-10-10 03:08:19 +0000 UTCI didn't want to have a massive poll so I went with a bunch of them. Most likely the next poll will have different ones, so I'll take some from here for sure! Thank you

2023-10-09 13:35:40 +0000 UTCFor future Hans Zimmer polls, I would suggest: - "Backdraft" (1991) Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Robert DeNiro, Scott Glenn, Donald Sutherland. Directed by Ron Howard. No CGI, all practical FX and stunts - "Black Hawk Down" (2001) All-star ensemble cast. Directed by Ridley Scott. Real events, based on a book by reporter mark Bowden - "The Peacemaker" (1997) George Clooney, Nicole Kidman - " Megamind" (2010) animated - Renaissance Man" (1994) Danny Devito - "A League Of Their Own" (1996) Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, John Lovitz. Based on real events - "Broken Arrow" (1996) Christian Slater, John Travolta - "Bird On A Wire" (1990) Mel Gibson, Goldie Hawn, David Carradine - "Tears of the Sun" (2003) Bruce Willis

2023-10-09 13:33:42 +0000 UTCThat's one thing I've always assumed since so many people played the role. That it's a designation, and not a specific person, which makes sense why they can just keep making some and they're not reboots (afaik)

2023-10-08 18:15:02 +0000 UTCREplying to the proper comment this time (I hope π ) Once I watch both Dune movies, I'll be reading the book, then I think I'll try the 2000 mini-series that is the most faithful to the books. I only knew of the original Dune in 1984, never heard of all the other variants lol

2023-10-08 18:10:09 +0000 UTCOh that would be amazing!! I definitely think you should go if it's feasible. When I go to Europe I'll have to look into doing that

2023-10-08 12:15:25 +0000 UTCYeah I saw Blade Runner 2049 on the list of his movies, so Blade Runner will have to be watched first. A recurring poll doesn't seem like a bad idea at all π€©

2023-10-08 12:14:32 +0000 UTCHanz Zimmer is just too good! I've been wanting to take a drive to Vienna or Prague to see him live. The few videos I've seen of his shows looks incredible!

2023-10-08 04:47:32 +0000 UTCI think youβll be wanting to make this poll a recurring one every few months; there are too many good ones! And then weβll have to find a way to have you watch Blade Runner (1982) sometime, so you can add Blade Runner 2049 (2017) to the Hans Zimmer poll.

2023-10-07 23:23:31 +0000 UTCOh thank you, that's great to know! I'll read them in the order I watch them then lol
Verowak
2023-10-07 22:43:23 +0000 UTCReading order is Angels and Demons, DaVinci Code, Lost Symbol, Inferno But it doesnβt really matter, they only ever make a small reference to one another. Any can be first!

2023-10-07 21:46:59 +0000 UTCSo there's a long running theory about James Bond, the old school bonds anyway. The theory is that Bond is code name, and that when one dies or is captured, the 007 number & associated name of Bond, is reassigned. This came about because as those movies were being made, Bond would be played by different actors, but Q & the rest were played by the same actors. It became a way of explaining away the inconsistencies. I believe Roger Moore actually references "the other guy" at one point and that helped fuel the theory. I don't want to say anymore due to potential spoilers, but you can put the rest of the theory together once you watch the movie.

2023-10-07 20:44:44 +0000 UTCI'm so confused by this statement, and must watch it to understand it. Though, I haven't seen any James Bond (only played the N64 game)

2023-10-07 20:42:04 +0000 UTC!!!!! Well, I'll definitely have to watch A&D after Da Vinci then!! That's weird that they did Da Vinci first, even though A&D was the first book. Does the reading/watchign order matter?

2023-10-07 20:22:07 +0000 UTCSuch a toss up between Kung Fu Panda and Lion King for me. Not only do they have great scores, but are up there for top animated films of all time.

2023-10-07 19:45:37 +0000 UTCI think that you meant this reply to be about my reply to a comment about "Dunkirk" π. You might want to check the reply by King_Panarisi (the OP) to the "Dunkirk" comment.
JAKH
2023-10-07 19:38:06 +0000 UTCYes I agree, itβs better to know about what happened in Dunkirk before you watch the movie.

2023-10-07 19:24:45 +0000 UTCI'm going in with no knowledge. The non-binary aspect of Nolan films is such a treat to see and eventually figure out lol

2023-10-07 19:15:54 +0000 UTCNo Spoilers: "Dune" (2021) is based on the sci-fi book "Dune" by Frank Herbert. The 2021 movie is Part 1 and covers the first half of the book. "Dune Part 2" (2023) is not in theaters yet. There are 2 previous movie adaptions, one from 1984 by director David Lynch (2 versions: a fan despised 2hr 20min theatrical version and a better 3-hr extended version which used to air regularly on the Sci-Fi Channel in the 1990's), and a 3-part mini-series from 2000, also with 2 versions: broadcast version 3x 1hr 30min parts and extended version 3x 2hrs parts. This was followed by another 3-part mini-series "Children of Dune" which covered the 2nd and 3rd books in Herbert's Dune series. The 2000 mini-series is the most faithful to the book of all 3, while the 2021 version has great CGI FX and current name-recognition actors but suffers from some PC woke π© bombs that clash with Herbert's extensive world building. The 1984 3hr version is a fun romp if you don't mind some deviation from the book. It does have a bunch of older name-recognition actors, though the FX are limited by the technology of the day. All 3 parts of the 2000 broadcast version are available in 720p on Youtube. Search for "Dune 2000" and they will come up at the top of the list.

2023-10-07 19:05:42 +0000 UTCNo spoilers: "Dunkirk" (2017) is a WW2 movie. It is set during the events at Dunkirk in 1940, however it does not explain anything about what is happening at Dunkirk and makes extensive use of non-linear storytelling (Nolan was experimenting with being "artsy"), so if you are not already familiar with the historical events of Dunkirk it can be very confusing. There is an older movie "Dunkirk" (1958) with a young Richard Attenborough (whom you saw in "Jurassic Park") that gives a good familiarization with the events for someone who does not already know what happened, and there is also a good BBC dramatized documentary "Dunkirk" from 2004.

2023-10-07 18:29:52 +0000 UTCI did! I also loved both movie and book for Angels and Demons. A&D is the first book but second movie (doesnβt really matter in their own contexts but I found that odd) The third, The Lost Symbol was never made into a movie and was probably my least favorite book though I still enjoyed it a lot. Inferno, the 4th was a great book, but Iβve only seen the movie once. So to summarize, DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons are amazing movies and all 4 books are great reads! (I might be a little biased cause Ewan McGregor is in A&D and you just gotta love our Obi Wan!)

2023-10-07 18:22:26 +0000 UTCI really like the soundtrack of that movie π I'll have to read the book after I watch that one. Did you like the movie adaptation of the book?
